I know the other thread is about players you'd like to see, how about executives?

I'm not a fan of the Hawks nepotism; players are recycled like aluminum cans, and sometimes non-player positions just because they were once in the team.

That said, my next 10 Christmas and birthday gifts would be covered if the Hawks made Doug Wilson president and gave him 100% real control of all hockey operations.

Not the biggest fan of Wilson anymore, even since he offer-sheeted Hammer in 2010 and pretty much tried to screw this organization over at the time -- although perhaps I should be thanking him, considering Bowman would have probably re-signed Niemi if he hadn't.

Sure but imagine someone doing that sort of move on behalf of the Blackhawks instead of against them

Fair, but then again, offer sheets are extremely rare in the NHL. They were even rarer back then, and if memory serves, they almost always get matched.

Stan has been around long enough now that everyone, including Rocky, has seen his results of bad trades and bad contracts. A few have been okay but most have been a disaster. Bowman is not, and likely never will be, a bona fide NHL general manager.

I just don't get what the Hawks see in Bowman. His record speaks for itself and if it was any other NHL club he'd have gotten the boot a long time ago.

I think they see a good thinker who listens to his staff and tries to execute all information toward a plan, within an excellent team first hockey culture. My issue comes with his arrogance and trying to reform the 1970's Habs dynasty instead of the 2020 Blackhawks. The league has changed. You guys aren't smart enough to revolutionize the meaning out of advanced statistics applied to the limits of human physiology.

Cut it out and build a core like the Dallas Stars or Vegas Knights first.
