Girly - gets the closet

Crystallas - You get a dresser and another small closet located in the near vicinity.

That's how it worked out when my wife and I moved into our house lmao.

In all seriousness though - I don't know what size or the dimensions of your closest, but I'd rid those stupid wire racks out. Then place two poles running parrallel with the wall. One at the top and one half way down the wall. Then put a small shelf above the bottom pole and you can put shoes, folded shirts, PJs, pants, etc. Basically whatever you can't hang up. That's how my master closet is done on both sides.

My wife's closet is packed. I mentioned using an upper and lower pole, but she said she has pants and dresses to hang too. Any solution for that? I've never changed the closets around and we still have the origal laminated wire shelves and hanger/shelf section.

She gets the whole closet to herself. I conceded defeat on that, and as the trade, I told her I no longer will be bothered by any of it.

I have my own closet, that is not in our bedroom, but in the hallway.

Best thing I can give man. Hope it turns out well.

Spare bedroom? Lol, Idk man. I have no idea how my wife organizes that thing. I don't go in it. I just stick to my tiny closet an dresser.

It doesn't matter what you do, so don't rack your brain-you're just wasting energy. What'll start out as a His and Her's closet, will be a Her's and Her's closet in a short time.

I'm not joking.

I should mention, this is her closet. I pretty much have the rest of the house. She has a spare room, I have a spare room, study, office, basement, garage, living room, family room, and somehow I control the kitchen(more because I can cook damn near anything and she is basely beyond starter recipes).

I just got stuck with the task of figuring out how to improve her closet situation. So I ask Taco for advise, because Taco draws penises on faces(or was that the other way around?) Just needed that one grand idea that wasn't on my radar to make it work. But so far, seems like most people I've read about will mold to their closet, and not mold their closet to fit them. Another way of accepting defeat. Only the socks and shoes will be accepting de feat in this closet.

I just did this for my brother and sister in law not too long ago. I'm an avid diy'er. Anyways the first thing I would do is look online at pictures to get an idea of what you/she likes. Not just layout but material. What kind of wood, paint colors ect. Next measure out your closet and you can draw it up on a piece of paper with a lay out you like.

If this is her closet you'll need lots of space for hanging and room for storing shoes. Depending on how big your closet is you can incorporate a mirror with jewelry storage ect.

I ended up doing a single pole on one side that was for dresses and coats, this was from the floor to just above head height. A middle section with shelving/drawers on the bottom for shoes a small open middle with a mirror and jewelry storage and more shelves on top for shoes, bags or whatever. On the other side there are two rows of poles for hanging shirt or pants. Across the top I put in another row of shelves for more storage and for linens and such.

You can custom build this or buy a closet system. I've seen them from $200-$600.

Don't keep a lot of clothes. I have a rule. If something is in my closet that I don't wear at least once in a month for the season it applies to then it's gone. Keeps the shit in my closet to a minimum as well as provides still relatively good clothing to those that need it more than I do as I donate it to charity.

The other thing I do is I pretty much have suits, blazers, and sweaters that can be worn at work or for play so a lot of my shit is basically dual purpose. The only clothes I have that aren't like that are I have like 3 pairs of shorts, 3 pairs of jeans, and then some short sleeves shirts for the summer.

I have an extra bedroom in my place so I basically keep my shit in the spare bedroom and the master bedroom closet space is pretty much for whichever girl is currently in the starting lineup. Since the shit is segregated in two different closets anytime she gets on a cleaning kick, I don't have to get involved. She can **** with her own closet space.

Finally, I have a maid that comes 3 times a month so she handles any other cleaning and upkeep shit including making sure my closet is organized by season and color.

My house has a room above the attached 1 car garage. Typically the room above the garage turns into a man cave or bonus room in most houses, but the way my house is laid out that room ended up next to my bedroom which is the walk in closet. So basically in my 4 bedroom house my closet could be the second largest bedroom, but because of the layout it is my closet. When I was single I didn't give a shit, 10% of the closet was for my clothes the rest was for storage and random shit. Since my wife moved in, it has turned into a legitimate closet but with a ton of floor space. Even with this massive closet, my wife still wants to redo the closet. Point being, no matter how big or nice the closet is...your lady is going to want to redo it regardless.

I consolidated some of our stuff into one room and I'm just going to extend her closet through the room behind it. She doesn't know this yet, but I just got back from menards with the lumber and drywall. Gives me a chance to re-floor the last few rooms with wood lam and get rid of the carpeting before christmas. At least I hope. If she can't manage with 2x more closet space, to hell with everything.

My wife has the closet, and all my stuff is thrown in bins on the floor. I have at least marked those bins, so i know what is in them. If you can crys, try putting a couple small dressers in it for your stuff.

Wife and I each have our own bedroom and closets. No way in hell we can co share a closet, I have as many shoes alone as she does. 3 pair of basketball shoes, cycling shoes (2), Hiking boots, 3-4 pair of work boots/hikers, dress shoes x 3, casual shoes x 4, work out sneaks, Golf shoes, Paintball cleats, baseball cleats etc... Save way to much "old" clothes as well. Wife instituted, if I buy something new, I have to get rid of two of whatever I buy.

My walk-in is bigger than my wife's and it is packed. To many hobbies and one of them I play semi-pro.

My best advice, secure a different closet someplace else in the house, move some of your stuff there. Also, seasonally rotate your clothing. My summer stuff is all packed in huge tupperware type plastic boxes in storage.

The reason we have two closets stuffed with shit that the fiance doesn't wear I will never fully be able to rationalize.

When she says the dreaded "I have nothing to wear" I just shake my head and go wait patiently in the living room until she is ready to go.
