In answer to the Threads title, Clowney cost... too much.

We probably have to trade up to get him too.

Agreed. If Clowney goes to a team without a perceived need, Ealy going early. If Clowney gone in 1st 4 picks I don't see Ealy making it to us.

While I wouldn't trade a future 1st, I don't think people realize how good Clowney is. We're talking a Lawrence Taylor, Bruce Smith type of talent. It's not too often a guy projects as a sure fire Hall of Famer if he keeps himself out of trouble and shows consistent desire to be the best. Those are the only questions with Clowney.

I really believe that Clowney will go in the 1st 3 picks, as some team will trade up to get him, or one of the top 3 teams will select him firmly on BPA. Ealy is hands down, the top DE on the board, and should go no later than 8th. IMHO.

Exactly why I would not be surprised if Houston took him #1, and went QB in the 2nd round.

HTJ, if they're smart.

I personally would give up next year's 1st round pick for Clowney. I don't think people realize we literally don't have anyone who can rush the passer. It would be desperate like giving Peppers a blank check but **** it we are desperate. You ensure the services of someone who is going average double digit sacks for a long time. If I'm Phil. I try to make that move.

Emery could do much worse than Clowney. I'd be ok with trading this year's and next year's first to grab him.

I don't think one can say no to a trade if this occurred:

Used first-pick.com
Round 1: Trade 2015 1st Rounder, 2014 1st Rounder, 2014 3rd Rounder to Oakland (#4)
Round 1: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
Round 2: Trade 2014 2nd Rounder (51) to San Diego (Round 2 Pick 25 (57), Round 3 Pick 25 (89), Round 4 Pick 25 (121)
Round 2: Ra'Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota
Round 3: C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE, Iowa
Round 4: Bryan Stork, C, Florida State
Round 4: Anthony Johnson, DT, LSU
Round 5: Brett Smith, QB, Wyoming
Round 6: Antone Exum, CB, Virginia Tech
Round 6: Brent Urban, DE, Virginia

In FA, sign a FS/SS. And hopefully get Tillman to return at a decent price. So are going to complain about not addressing the FS/SS/CB early enough in the draft and why draft 3 offensive players!!!! But honestly, you cannot ignore an entire side of the football or you will pay the price dearly.
Secondly, I thought Bowman played well enough last year to be a serviceable CB, if we do not find a starting CB through FA. And will Frey step into that role.

I did it once more for shit and giggles. And I don't care what you say, if this occurred you must be happy, even without the 1st next year. This time traded up with Cleveland and again traded back in the 2nd.

Round 1 Pick 4 (CLE): Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina (A)
Round 3 Pick 5 (NYJ): Anthony Johnson, DT, LSU (A)
Round 3 Pick 16 (NYJ): Craig Loston, SS, LSU (A)
Round 4 Pick 17: Bryan Stork, C, Florida State (A)
Round 5 Pick 14 (NYJ): Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska (A)
Round 5 Pick 16: Brett Smith, QB, Wyoming (A)
Round 6 Pick 7: Caraun Reid, DT, Princeton (A)
Round 6 Pick 15: Jaylen Watkins, CB, Florida (A)

Was looking at mocks and such and was curious what he is worth.

Would you pull the trigger if it took 2014 1st Rounder, 2015 1st Rounder, and 2014 3rd Rounder?

What is too much?

Absolutely not.

The bears have too many holes to sacrifice 2 top picks and a 3rd for. If it was 1 need, that's different. But when they have many--not smart. Ask the rest of Washington how RG3's trade went

Well yeah, getting a 2nd round talent in the 5th round and a pair of 4th round talents in the 6th would be awesome.

I am assuming you feel Clowney will still be available at #4, which I doubt, but I guarantee you Hageman will be long gone before the 2nd round.

Yeah, and the Bears traded just a 5th to move up 4-5 spots for Alshon Jeffery. Nobody is trading a 3rd and 4th to move up 6 picks, regardless of what that outdated trade chart says

I would be willing to trade up for a QB.

A DT? Nope There is enough of them out there to find a good one.

Really a high risk, high reward type move. Draft picks are so valuable because you can get a top tier player on a rookie contract. By putting all your eggs in the Clowney basket you are essentially making it so he has to pan out or the team his hurt for years to come.

I say nay. Look at where the Skins are right now and that's with a more important position on the field (QB). Essentially they have cap room, but have to use a huge chunk of that to retain their own players and fill holes with market priced vets. Also because of a down season they have a quazi-new coaching staff, so it's got a rebuild feel in Washington.

I kind of view it the opposite way. If the Bears are convinced that Clowney will be a star player, its less of a risk to trade up and take Clowney, because at least the Bears will know what they are getting (to some degree). Those other draft picks might not ever pan out, especially if the 1st round picks are in the mid/late round range. I think a top 5 pick is a safer bet than two 15 picks and a 115 pick. JMO

Agreed, plus if it he doesn't work out it's easier to justify since he's supposed to be more of a sure thing as opposed to taking someone like Hageman.

Man, if the Bears could sign Linval Joseph, TJ Ward, and re-sign Melton, Tillman, Wootton, and Williams....I could probably be on board with 2 firsts for Clowney.

Clowney, Joseph, Melton....would be a great 3/4 of a line. Almost doesn't matter who the 4th is.
