I know we all have opinions on the player movement, but I figured why not have a thread on coaching movements that will (presumably) involve our coaches? First, a list of the current teams who are in need of a head coach: Devils and Thrashers (Yzerman (TB) and Howson (CBJ) have already filled their vacancies).

I expect one of our guys to go to Atlanta. Torchetti maybe?

As for the Devils, it's anybody's guess who Lamoriello wants.

Thrashers eyeing Hawks assistant Torchetti

By Chris Kuc

The price of success not only will likely cost the Blackhawks a key player or two as they battle salary-cap issues, but their coaching staff could suffer a few losses as well.

The Atlanta Thrashers have reportedly asked for and been granted permission to speak to Hawks Associate Coach John Torchetti to fill their head coaching vacancy. Torchetti, who was hired by the Hawks on March 16, 2007 and served as an assistant for both Denis Savard and current head man Joel Quenneville, has twice been an interim head coach in the NHL. In 2004, he replaced current Thrashers general manager Rick Dudley as coach and finished 10-12-4-1. In '06, Torchetti went 5-7-0 as interim coach for the Kings.

The Thrashers have a coaching vacancy after firing John Anderson, who is a former coach of the AHL's Chicago Wolves, on April 14.

Mike Haviland, another Hawks assistant, could also be in demand and it has been rumored the New Jersey Devils could be interested.

Good question. Maybe Tony Granato?

Despite being a lateral move, as he's an assistant with the Pens, maybe he would be interested in working closer to home, so-to-speak.

Mike Kitchen might be a possibility as well, but another lateral move.

Or, promoting from within, Rockford's coach is Bill Peters. Depending on how many Hogs we're gonna have on the team next year, this could be an interesting possibility.

I like this scenario the best. Bring a coach in who is familiar with the young guys and knows how to get everything out of them.

Hmm...Peters is in the mix for HC at Atlanta and being interviewed today.

Q has been around the game for a long time, I'm confident in his ability to find suitable replacements behind the bench.

Sounds like it'll be Kitchen once it's officially announced Torch takes over in Atlanta.
