Doesn't Monken have college HC experience also? My preference is someone with NFL HC experience or a long time NFL co-oordinator who at least has been a college, CFL, or other pro league HC experience.
3years in Hattiesburg for Southern Miss. His best year was his last but then left to join TB.

We just reached the Pep Hamilton phase of the off-season, in case anyone has that on their bingo card.
I don't want him as HC, but when you enter the Kafka phase of the offseason....

Thats what makes me take a GIANT pause with ben johnson. Guy has been an oc for 2.5 years and coaches under the biggest meatball motivator in the entire NFL. He's legit in the perfect situation for an XandO's guy.

Monken has been a former HC of a college program and an OC for much longer. Maybe bring in kafka as his OC to complete the hometown duo.
Exactly. Both are unknowns as to how they would be as a HC. But Monken has been a legit top-flight OC for years.

Playing devil’s advocate here, most coordinators could have a high powered offense with Lamar.
Yeah, but he took it to another level. As you know, he has worked magic with QBs who are now either on the PS of some team or selling insurance.

The ONLY hesitation I would have is his age.

But but but, ben johnson turned jared goff good!

Because he never made pro bowls before going to detroit and didnt have 4700 yards and 32 TD's as a 3rd year player.

Cancel the interviews, bring in Pete Carroll, one stipulation, no Waldron.

He also had a good offense in tampa with jameis and fitzmagic.

Guy also turned lamar into a far better quarterback. Sure you can say it was all lamar, but the difference in his passing the last two years are pretty drastic.

Both have had good talent to work with. It’s just Monken has done it longer with far less talent at QB (here’s looking at you Stetson Bennett).

He took that offense and Lamar to another level.

Just look at the dropoff at UGA’s offense the last 2 years since he left.

This year, sure. But last year lamar had gus edwards and a rookie zay flowers outside of mark andrews and won MVP. A lot of that was monken too

58 isn't that old. I'll be 58 in February.

A lot of it is Monken. We complain about play calling all the time on this board. And it’s justified. A good play caller makes a world of difference. It accentuates the strengths of players and helps to mask their weaknesses.

I have no clue why people have this response.
Now I actually wouldn’t mind the hire but I’m fully prepared the flame the shit out of the Bears if they hire Mike McCarthy. He’s one of those where OK maybe he’s worth a shot normally but if the Bears hire him at this juncture you just know it’ll be the wrong move.
