Bulls got the short end of the stick when they fell from 4th to 7th. I think things turned out alright with Coby White falling to us. He was the BPA and just happens to fill one of our most pressing needs.

They could have traded down and took a 2nd rounder at 11 like the Suns did. I would have loved to see the meltdown had they done that ?

With how dysfunctional this franchise is Idt the fans have the energy with a meltdown anymore.

Agreed Axl...

I was looking at what the Suns did and couldn't believe that pick or the next one they made with talent available. Just a crazy franchise.

can't hate on White selection. He happened to be BPA

Reddish will probably be a better pro. He has alot to prove being behind both Zion and Barrett at Duke.

We just got a guy who most times runs faster than he can dribble and likes to shoot too much. I guess you cant ask a slower guy to move faster, but you can ask a faster guy to slow down. Just looking for more of a floor general that wont be afraid to wave Lavine down into running the offense instead of just giving him the ball at the top and get out of his way.

Still a chance to sign or trade for a PG that can do that. If it were my team, I'd trade Dunn, and put White on ice behind a solid veteran free agent. Rubio would do and be exciting but Rubio would also compliment Dunn well and teach him some things.

Dunn should be around a savant passer other than Valentine. Chris Paul works for me if they have to unload Capela to get the deal done. Paul they need to pay off to take his contract.

Not only is he the right player for the Bulls, but they could figure out a max slot if they parted with some lesser pieces they value too much.

I am as anti-GarPax as anyone, but i must admit I am shockingly happy with this draft. I think White is a great pickup at #7, and Gafford is a sold talent on the second unit. Well done.
Agreed, how anyone can shit on the White pick is beyond me. Will he pan out who knows but the experts consensus is that he was best player available, not to mention we need a PG.

Dunn should be on the bench as a second-teamer, any consideration of him as a starter - regardless of the other guard - is foolish.

CP3 has negative contract value and won't do shit to help this team with his broken body and crappy attitude, the only way we take him is to extract future draft picks from HOU, same as the Blackhawks had to endure for years with giving away talent to get under the cap.

Honestly White is the best we could've gotten at 7. Not sure he's a long term answer as a starting PG either, but he should push the pace to make us more fun to watch.

Dunn-Lavine-White-Beverly is our backcourt rotation in 2019-2020?

If they sign Beverly they won't keep Dunn, imo. Add Valentine to the backcourt mix, and then Archie on the end of bench for emergencies or injuries. Hutchinson might play more in 2020

Perhaps. But more importantly, none of the guys you named after Beverly is an NBA starting-caliber player.

They probably got lucky to get White at #7...the starting talent ran out in this draft pretty quick it looked like. Furthermore, you could argue he got to go to North Carolina because he is the better athlete out of Garland, him and Morant. At least he is built for NBA contact. He is a great size to become a great shooter. His quickness will keep him from getting his shot blocked and open up passing lanes, as well as jabbing type tempo and play development. Alot of useful guys, guys that have a special tool or two...but not all around dominating players. Maybe the game is turning into specialists.

White was just a freshman, he should develop into something special and got a year of Roy Williams. Awesome.
Those shooting numbers don't bother me coming from a freshman in the ACC...
shooting takes time, and he is certainly confident about it. Might be a range guy, needs to be contained some more and given a chance to mentally absorb higher levels of basketball.

He's just a freshman PG.

This is where I immediately start to get lost. An ELITE Point guard is not looking to shoot first, he is there to facilitate the shooters. We have enough shooters and Lavine who never passes once he gets it.
This is what happened with Derrick. Needs to work on his shot, needs to score more, then what, WTF IS ROSE TAKING 32 SHOTS FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is the same rut we constantly run into. There are no centers to defend the block anymore, but get a center that can shoot 3's. Then, become a mediocre player, demand trades so you can sign for 40 million a year. Give us a point guard that can average 12 assists and this offense will improve. A bunch of guys with 4 or 5 assists a game is where we are now, basketball hell.

Pretty long video breakdown of Coby White.

Too long; didn't watch version: he's streaky in every sense of the word. Whether it's leading a fast break, on the PnR, shooting, or playing defense. But, like Rasko said, he's a freshman. He made freshman mistakes that he should approve on with more coaching.

not just a freshman...

a freshman point guard. There is a reason ncaa is dominated by upper classman backcourts. He needs 2-3 years seasoning.

His shot has a pretty low release point which is mildly concerning

Yeah, that is my #1 concern. He has a good attitude and motor. Very likable guy, kind of player you want in the locker room. But if he's going to be a ball dominant player, he better work on his release point, otherwise he'll just be another low efficiency shooter.

He reads lanes well, has excellent f2b post footwork for a guard, and pushes the weakside of a set as good as any player in the last two drafts. But these first few years are going to be rough, he will be bricking a lot and getting blocked a lot. He also folds under mid court traps a lot more than we want to see.

Low release points don't necessarily equate to something needing to be fixed. Lillard, Trey Young, Curry all have somewhat low release points and are some of the best shooters we've ever seen.
