Got this coming up soon, and a buddy is flying in from Minneapolis to go. Never been to the Copernicus Theater, so hopefully it's a decent venue.

"Honest ma, he's just a buddy"

I know they've taken a lot of shit over the years for "Selling out" in the early 00's, but the concerts are still great. This is from a couple of years ago. Check it out beginning at 7:20. Good shredding by Reynolds after Tinsely.

Smashing Pumpkins were at Civic Opera House last night and it was an amazing concert. James Iha came on stage and played a bunch of Siamese Dream songs. Bill Wennington was there too.

I am also going to the Dream Theater concert. I think they are playing the entire Astonishing album.

I've always enjoyed the Pumpkins and been a fan since the start, but I must admit they are damn boring as live performers. Jealous about Iha though!

They are. I saw them last summer. If the studio track lasted 4:27, then that's how long it lasted live. Note for note.

I never heard of this Trucks Band until this post, but they sound pretty sweet and tomorrow is the pre-sale for their shows at the Fox theater in Oakland, I'm going to pick up a few tickets and give it a shot.

Dream Theater was great Saturday as usual but I'm just not into this new album.
The Mike Mangini vs Marco Minnemann talk before the show just made me want to see The Aristocrats again.

So this was one of the tunes Abasi played with Bettincourt on Friday:

Afterwards Abasi thanked him for learning one of his tunes and Bettincourt goes "I was just trying to hold on for dear life. Seriously, can anyone tell me where '1' is?" Which is spot on, that piece has some serious meter mixing going on towards the end.

If you find that interesting check out this one too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O46v33hpx4Q

I'm a big Animals as Leaders fan. I saw them live with Between the Buried and me last August. Abasi is crazy good.

I saw Elton John when I was in Vegas last month, and our company is buying a crap load of equipment from Sony, so I got to go to the after party at NABShow this year to see Brian Wilson play most of the Beach Boy's hits. The Melvins were in town when I flew in, and it was the first time in about 18 years that I missed one of their shows due to my scheduling.

Saw Sleater-Kinney earlier this year and Slaves/Wolf Alice a month ago. If you're into Brit Punk, Slaves is a good band to check out.
Wolf Alice rocked the show. Amazing band live and the sound was amazing.

I have tickets to see Lush this fall, and hopefully will try and score tickets to Digable Planets and Garbage when they come around.
