We had an interesting conversation in chat last night after the game. We ended up talking about concerts so I thought it would be interesting to see what others will be attending.

Plus, we may learn of some venues and bands that others are not aware of.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Since my wedding is this summer, probably none.

Later though, GWAR, near thanksgiving, ShowBox SODO in Seattle. Should be epic like usual.

I'm planning on seeing Rammstein, Rush, Foo Fighters, and lollapalooza. I'm sure some others will come up.

Right now the only show I have tickets for is Ha Ha Tonka at Subterranean on April 16th.

The Lollapalooza lineup looks promising. Might end up going to that.

I'm thinking about Lollapalooza, but I'm not a huge concert person. I just really want to see the Foo Fighters and there's rumors they're headlining. Early bird tickets went on sale for $60 today, but they went fast.

One of these days I will make it back to a Gwar show.

I have to say that I don't go to concerts anymore. Too much damn trouble - first the expensive tickets, the drive to the venue, having to stand up during the whole concert (I'm getting old), driving home late... I guess I'm a curmudgeon.

Late one I went to was Alice Cooper about three years ago. Luckily, it was in the city so I didn't have to go far.

Was a good show - his voice is better now than in the seventies 'cause he hasn't had a drink in years. There is talk of him and the rest of the Alice Cooper band (without Glen Buxton who died a few years ago) getting back together. I think I could get up for that.

Last concert before that was about ten years or more ago: Neil Young, Oasis, Screaming Trees, Spiritualized and Jewel.

What was great was when Neil was singing Helpless, the line "yellow moon on the rise", there was a big yellow moon just above the horizon to the right of the stage. Talk about synchronicity!

We saw that same tour I believe. He was in between Queensrych and Sabbath (Dio). He was pretty good except he started getting tired near the end of his set, but pretty good over all.

What was nice was the venue - a smaller 1600 seater with really good acoustics.

Songs performed (not in this order):

Love It To Death (1971):

I'm Eighteen / Is It My Body / Ballad Of Dwight Fry

Killer (1971):

Under My Wheels / Be My Lover / Desperado / Halo Of Flies / Dead Babies

School's Out (1972):

School's Out

Billion Dollar Babies (1973):

No More Mr. Nice Guy / Billion Dollar Babies / Elected

Welcome To My Nightmare (1975):

Welcome To My Nightmare / Cold Ethyl / Only Women Bleed / Steven

Lace and Whiskey (1977):

It's Hot Tonight

Trash (1989):

Poison

Hey Stoopid (1991):

Feed My Frankenstein

The Last Temptation (1994):

Lost In America

Dirty Diamonds (2005):

Dirty Diamonds / Woman Of Mass Distraction

Along Came A Spider (2008):

Vengeance Is Mine / (In Touch With Your) Feminine Side

I especially like the Ballad of Dwight Frye and Billion Dollar Babies.

... and finally The Alice Cooper GROUP made it into the Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame!

PHISH!!!! Can see other bands plenty of times with plenty of enjoyment, but there the only ones who gives me my fix. Any Deadheads or Phish lovers could probably attest to the same thing.

I should be in Detroit, Cleveland and Cincy if all goes well. Also when they release leg 2 of their tour I'll catch a couple. Go music.

Dont feel bad, I suppose I am relatively young and the last concert I went to was in 2002 and I was 20. I astonishes me to think thats almost 10 years ago. I swear to all heck the day I set foot on ISU's campus for the first time when I was 19 seems like friggin yesterday.

Rammstein (have 2 extra tickets if anyone's interested) and *grumblegrumble* James Blunt.

My best friend is a huge fan and has no one else to go with. Hell, at least it's free for me... which might be too expensive.

I am still hemming and hawing over this show.

I feel like I will be that creepy old guy at a concert i used to make fun of. I at least still have my hair, and no van, so I got that going for me.

Greg Behrendt said it best. I sooooo agree with this.

That was asesome... he hits the nail on the head about being the creepy old guy and the t shirts!! At the Disturbed concert a few months ago I felt like "that" guy but hey, a few Jack and Cokes later and I got over it. My bad. Thanks for the quick glove save on that.
