This is crazy. Apparently he was drunk and his wife flew out of the car on impact (and later died). Guys a total asshole for driving drunk but that cop just straight up shot that dude for no reason and was super calm about it too.

Officer said his gun went off by accident, dafuq?

BTW, Cop will not be charged. The guy shot is now paralyzed.

Exactly. And they justified it. Shits Cray. No medical assistance until 11 minutes after they arrived because the cop didnt mention he shot him until they asked why he had a bullet hole in his neck.

Lunchbox, you say there was no reason, what would you call killing someone's wife?

I'm not justifying this but I can see how it could happen.

My father was an Illinois State Trooper. My six year old brother was killed up near Beecher when I was eight. The bus driver was high and took a mini bus full of kids down a back country road in Illinois at excessive speed. He hit the ice and rolled the bus three times. From what I was told the douchebag driver was laughing about the accident immediately afterward. He wasn't so jolly when he sobered up and realized what he did.

My dad, luckily wasn't the first officer on the scene. They had to physically restrain and disarm him at the site. I'm sure he would have executed the driver.

I'm not justifying what the guy did but I can understand it. If someone drunk as hell slammed into my car and killed my wife I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing.

I'm sorry about your brother, that's a horrible story, but it was the driver's wife who was killed, not the officer's.

No, the guy killed his own wife (on accident), not the officers. The drunk guy had his own wife in the car and she was launched from the vehicle when it crashed/flipped.

The officer just shot the dude for the hell of it.

Well, that is different. No excuse for that under any circumstance. I misread the post, I thought it was the drunk that hit the police officer and his wife. Sorry.

Even if it was an accident, this is supposedly a professional and he should have better control of his weapon.

Such a tragic accident. An officer accidentally draws his weapon on a man climbing his way out of a rolled over vehicle. He accidentally fires his weapon at the man. Twice. He accidentally radios into dispatch that a man who is likely paralyzed for life due to being shot in the neck refuses to get out of his vehicle. He accidentally forgets to take any further steps to subdue the obviously dangerous fleeing criminal but instead leaves him to bleed inside the vehicle.

The officer accidentally forgets to radio "shots fired" into dispatch. The officer accidentally forgets to inform his arriving backup on scene that he had discharged his weapon. The officer accidentally spends the next five minutes of the video not rendering aide to the dying woman ejected from the vehicle or the man who was accidentally shot but instead accidentally shines his flashlight around on the ground looking for his shell casings.

The officer accidentally forgets to inform on scene medics he shot the man in the car. The officer accidentally only mentions that he discharged his weapon when medics inform a senior officer on scene that the man has been shot that the supervisor asks for investigators to check if the man was shot at the bar he had just left.

Such a tragic accident.

It was the drivers fault.
He was obviously crawling out of the window in a threatening manner, and it looks like he was prepared to kung-fu flip on to the officer.

I hope someone in office eventually steps up and proposes making body cameras mandantory across the board for all police. the saturation of cameras at the publics fingertips has really highlighted the staggering amount of unjustified homicides by cops, but that isnt enough. All cops need body cameras, and it should be an obstructing justice charge for turning them off.

In any scenario that is an asinine sentiment.
Flip it around- lets say your wife was looking at her ringing phone, or reaching in to the glovebox or whatever- and slams in to someone causing a fatality? WOuld you understand your wife getting executed on the street for it?

Didnt think so.

I don't give a flying **** if I pancaked your 2 year old on the street. No cop has the right to be judge, jury and executioner.

It's not the same thing. If my wife was shitty ass drunk and killed some poor guy's wife, yeah I could understand it. Not condone it but understand it. Don't compare someone distracting themselves from knowingly becoming intoxicated and then entering a motor vehicle.

It's like wanting to kill the guy that raped your daughter. It doesn't make it legal, but it does make it understandable. I don't know, maybe you never cared about someone enough to contemplate what you would do if something like this happened.

But as I said earlier, I misread the original post and what this cop did was inexcusable.

Just because you're drunk, doesn't mean you don't have places to be. Sometimes you still gotta drive and risk it for the biscuit.

The guy is dead anyways, so not even sure why you're this upset..

I don't understand why a cop approached the seen of an accident with his gun drawn anyway? And then to shoot a guy, who was probably scared and in shock of what just happened wanting to get out of his wrecked car? Very weird. And in the video it appeared the wreck happened right in front of the cop, so no way they probably even knew about the wife for a minute. Is it normal for police to approach car accidents like the swat team kicking in El Chapo's door?
