i think that if we could get bosh, we could have a wider window.

he's the type of player that doesn't wholly rely on his athleticism and natural gifts to succeed, unlike amare.

i think bosh could still be a formidable player into his early thirties.

We're more likely to get Bosh than Boozer given that Bosh didn't personally stab our GM's brother in the back and cost him his job.

We have to pass on both Boozer and Amare. Boozer is not the biggest guy in the world, has character issues, is injury prone, and doesn't play the post all that often (seems like most his shots are from the high post and slighty extended) probably because he doesn't have the size. There is a reason Utah may let him walk (and thats not just because they have a rock solid player named Paul Milsap in the wings).

And Amare? There is the injury flag (I believe there is a high chance of relapse with a microfracture level injury), the guy has an abosolute shit selfish attitude (which has really hurt his development), and he plays zero defense (already a Bulls problem). Unless he wakes up to reality (unlikely considering the cocoon these guys can live in if they so choose to), he will lose his worth as he eventually loses his athleticism.

Get Bosh if we can - if not we need to explore other options.

Boozer might be the more realistic guy to get and is a 20/10 guy so I would say yes. Also they make sense as trades go to.

Jerry Sloan had a back court of Stockton/Horny which worked out well for them and Kirk fits that mold. Utah is a team that I can see Kirk playing SG full time for. So a Kirk and Tyrus for Boozer IMO would get a deal done.

For the Bulls adding Boozer with Rose-Gordon-Deng makes us a team that should compete for the finals. You Got your inside guy in Boozer which can play the pick and roll but also post up when needed your main guy in Rose and Gordon who should get a lot of open looks having Boozer and Rose and Deng is big based on being able to cover the Pierce and LBJ in the east. No one is going to stop LBJ but it's nice a have a guy that you can defend him without throwing the double team which Deng does . Also Deng is a not a shot creator so fits in well wit the other 3

What other options are there? Bosh has the least downside of any of those three healthwise and attitude wise IMO. However, when you're trying to get a 20/10 guy through trade it's not like you have tons of options to choose from, and the ones without flaws aren't moved too often.

You obtain a guy like that BECAUSE of a flaw that another team is too scared of and you aren't more times than not.

Our other option will likely be to keep getting guys who haven't proven their ability and hope they develop under us. That may work out of course, but it very well may not. We've had a plethora of high 1st round draft pick big men and none of them turned into the star we want, now we'd need to try to do the same thing with mid round and later picks.

Trade Kirk in a deal and Tyrus. I don't see Boozer getting more than 10-13 so trading Kirk 10 mil and Tyrus 4 mil should make it work.

I also think we should try and keep Gordon too. Try and package James and Timmy for smaller deals that go beyond 2010

I'm sorry I didn't know we had Bryan Colangelo's right hand man on this forum.

Please explain to me why Bosh, a perrenial All-Star, would stay with a team where a 7ft 3pt shooter is his only other scoring option?

No one knows what any of these FA's are gonna do, but simply saying "We're not getting Bosh" is a rather ignorant thing to say. Other than VC, I can't think of a single superstar FA who decided to sign with the Raptors, and VC did it when he was a RFA. Chicago is a very appealing place for FA's. Its the 3rd biggest market in the NBA, with a loyal and rabid fan base, an up-and-coming team with tons of depth, and a budding superstar.

But obviously you're right and Bosh would rather play alongside Bargnani, Calderon, and Pops Mensah-Bonsu for the rest of his career.

There's a lot of reasons why Bosh won't end up here, he probably won't.

Still there's no reason to suggest we can't get Bosh but could get Boozer.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Getting Bosh is not out of the question, neither is getting Boozer. Personally I think Bosh is the best possible option and we should pursue him as much as possible. Boozer is a bit more realistic in terms of getting him, but with the amount of money he wants I'm pretty sure that Gordon can't get what will convince him to stay. Of course if JR is willing to go over the luxury tax then all is well, but don't get your hopes up too much.

In reality, neither of them are probably going to come here, but we can dream right? It's not TOO far fetched of a dream.

I am still confused as to how we could afford boozer

even if we trade away someone for an expiring deal it still doesn't expire until after next year
If we wanted to get boozer the time to clear space would have been before the deal line this year

the time has passed

You can clear space instantly by trading to teams with capspace, a TE, or for a non guaranteed contract. Its possible, but difficult.
