Could a series of Pistons moves' this offseason ruin some of the Bulls plans?

Trade Rip, use the #15 pick on Mullens and trade it along with Amir Johnson to clear some capspace in order to sign Gordon and Boozer as a duo. Which then means we don't get Mullens, assuming it is true we want him at #16, and then we lose Gordon in free agency. We then keep Hinrich because Gordon is gone, we end up drafting let's say Terrence Williams at #16 instead of Mullens and use the #26 pick on Omri Casspi and this is our lineup game one of next season.

Rose, Hinrich,Roberson
Salmons,Williams
Deng, Casspi,Johnson
Tyrus, Tim
Noah,Miller,James

Bulls can offer Ben Gordon the largest possible contract. Our team is a better situation, and Detroit's a dump compared to Chicago.

The only one that can ruin our offense in regards to Gordon is Jerry Reinsdorf. People need to drill this through their heads. The luxury tax is not a hard barrier.

OMG draft Mullens? what would this team do with him off the boards? . Seriously why would any player want to play in the USAs toilet we call Detroit?

How much would you offer for BG, 8,9,10,11 mil?

I think you have to offer him $9 million minimum, because that's what we offered him last year. It'd send a bad message to not reward a guy for a good year, after being the most profitable team in basketball for the past 20 years. Offering him $10-11 million is even better, as it will show him a higher level of respect for him.

In the end I don't care. If we re-sign Gordon, we're probably getting rid of Kirk Hinrich, which is detrimental to the team. I don't care what Gordon makes. We're not going to have capspace unless we start gutting out some talent on this team with the shrinking cap.

What we should be doing is taking advantage of other team's economic woes, using our expiring contracts, probably going into the luxury tax, to propel ourselves to championship contender level.

IMO, we should keep Hinrich, Gordon, Deng, Rose, Noah, and Miller. Then use some combination of Salmons, Thomas, Jerome James, and Tim Thomas to bring in a legitimate power forward.

No way I pay more than 9 mil for Gordon. No way. If a team wants to pay 11 mil, let him go...

Nor am I a fan of keeping Hinrich/Gordon/Rose and trading Salmons, to have a midget backcourt. No midget backcourt.

What do you mean, Bulls need a low post presence. Chad Ford agrees he's the right pick for Bulls. Sam Smith is starting to come around on this notion. Then you have Andy Katz whom think this makes sense. I'm sure if you watched games last year but Noah shooting form look like he was begging to be hugged. Tyrus Thomas shot simulated as if he just lost his best friend. The only guy that impressed me was Brad Miller. To no surprise, I was the one that said Bulls should set more pick-in-pops beyond the arc for Brad. Unfortunately, we don't have the young Brad anymore. So why not turn that 16th pick into a All-Star instead getting another role player. I don't if he's a project, you're not going to get anywhere using that mentally. When Bosh came into the draft, many were questioning his abilities. They said he was just a shooting big men with a lot of upside. Now look, we're trying to get him in 2010 or through a trade this off-season. I'm not high on Hansbrough or Blair. If I want a guy in that mold, I'll just use the 26th pick to draft a Adrien from Uconn. Don't waste the 16th pick on a player that you can get through FA or later in the draft. To answer the question, I honestly believe Dumars can put a axe through our plans. Will he take Daye is the question. Hopefully he does take Daye and trade Prince. Remember, he sees a lot of Prince in Daye, but, with more upside.

Even if you're willing to pay the tax, overpaying players is still stupid because most teams aren't willing to pay the tax. The Knicks found out this the hard way, ending up with a roster full of contracts that nobody would take off their hands.

Well, if the Pistons think it's in their best interest to trade Rip (which I think it is), the Pistons should be looking for a point guard at 15. Ty Lawson is a guy that could run a team from day one, and Stuckey will be able to focus on scoring.

I don't think they will trade Rip, because they'd look like a rebuilding team, and that could hurt them in free agency. So there is a good chance they would opt for Mullens at 15.

If Bulls are really serious about drafting Mullens, then I would suggest this:

Suns: Deng, Miller, Johnson, and 16th pick

Bulls: O'Neal, and 14th pick

If we cant get a stud big man this offseason, Id gladly do that.

We'd be in PRIME shape for free agency next summer.

I am praying that someone takes Mullens before 16 so we can get a bruising PF who can score and rebound.

The only bruising PF in this draft is Blair, and he'll be the next Danny Fortson or Micheal Sweetney, he may just be able to overpower guys like he did at Pitt.

Don't aim low, Hansborough and Blair are not what we are looking for. Blair is too short, and he is being compared to Anthony Mason by some, which is scary low potential for a possible lottery pick. Hansborough has no discernible talent that will translate to the NBA...period.

You can't compare the Bulls' situation to the Knicks. The players on the Bulls at least have accomplished a little in terms of making the postseason.

The Knicks on the other hand kept brining in shoot-first PG at high salaries. The Knicks had no plan. It was just bring in a name. Like why on God's green Earth did they bring in Steve Francis when they already had Stephon Marbury??? That made no sense. Resigning Gordon at 10 mil or 11 mil a season isn't even close to the mistakes that NY made.

If the Bulls kept Gordon and still couldn't move Deng or Hinrich, they would be a far better team than NY ever dreamed of being. So I don't think that's a fair comparison.

Now while I love to take shots at the Knicks, I'll give them credit for one thing. They do spend (not wisely) but at least their owner doesn't act like he's in a small market when he's in the 3rd biggest in the US and has fans conditioned to accept the luxury tax excuse.

Reinsdorf has said often that he has no problem spending into the luxury tax, its for who, that matters to him. He wouldn't do it for Gasol, said he would do it for Garnett and Kobe.

If he spends 10 or 11 mil on BG and goes over the luxury tax with a team that barely makes the playoffs, he is a certifiable grade A dumbass!!!

Hustle, toughness, rebounding, basketball instincts, & the ability to get to the FT line & make 80% of your FT's, those translate to the NBA easily. Psycho T is better than most people give him credit for. He's quicker & more athletic than you think. And he's nearly 6' 10" in shoes. He's the perfect size for a 4 in this league. No he's not going to be an All-Star, but he's not going to be Mark Madsen either. God I hate that comparison. And I think other than Griffin, Hill, & Johnson, Ty will better than any of the other PF's in this year's crop. Man this draft sucks!

I agree, too, look at it this way, Blair is a specialist just like Ben Gordon and them guys only can get you so far. In Blair case, the dude is a rebounding force like Reggie Evans, but with more muscle. Seriously, I don't want my Power Forward playing dirty like Rodman or Evans. I don't want to see Blair grabbing Chris Kaman balls. These are the tactics these dudes use, it's shrewd, but it's also lent at the bottom of the pocket. If you look at our roster, the only Superstar in the making is Derrick Rose. You see how he controlled the games last year. I never saw a guy in the Bulls uniform takeover the game like Rose did last year since Jordan or Pippen. Before Rose, Ben Gordon was the closest. Where I'm getting at is simple, if you look at all the teams that has won Championship games, they all had post presence. We do you think Shaq offers his services every year, because the dude presents mismatches. This is where BJ Mullens come in, true enough he's 2 years away from contributing maybe 14 points and 7 rebounds but when you have Rose, they make each other better. At best, I can see Mullens turning out to be somewhat of the talented version of Pau Gasol. Both guys love the flash contact but don't like banging that much. They both are homogeneous. I just hope GM's don't do their homework on his pro's. This guy will be a impact player with Rose in the future. Noah will rub of on Mullens and get him to utilize his talent. I also think drafting a SG is stupid. Gordon will be back. I also dissected Wade comments today on the radio. The guy will be in a Bulls uniform in 2010. He wants to come back home and do it big - as we say in Englewood. Back to the topic, it will be a sad day if Bulls pass on Mullens or at least don't make a effort to grab him before other teams do. When we got Rose, Calapari said this, "A Big Body, inside presence that can play off the pick and roll with Derrick." My point is, BJ Mullens is that guy we can tweak and build around Rose. We don't need to change the whole team, but add a spice here and there. Paxson and Gar don't seem like fools and I trust they'll drive the hammer home with one strike. You can't miss with Mullens. You can't teach 7 feet newskoolbulls. You can't teach that agility with his present frame. I'm going to go nuts if he falls to us. When I was scouted him, the only red flags I saw was at the Butler game. It was visible that he didn't respect the guys on the team. It was plays where he wanted to score and forced a shot and Evan Turner called him out his name. It was a play where Jon Diebler drove and drew contact. He failed and the whole team assisted to him but Mullens didn't and visibly walked away and all the guys signaled him out the game to Matta. So, I don't know what that relationship atmosphere was like but it can be fixed if he comes here. The dude does have issues but I still want him here. It's a great test to challenge Vinny Del Negro coaching skills lol.
