It isn't about getting hurt. It isn't about getting drunk. It is about getting hurt while drunk. No team is going to be happy that a $6million a year player gets injured in that manner. That it could cost the team wins and that they have to pay another goalie while taking a hit on their cap.

So what do you want them to do? Ban all players from drinking?

If he got drunk and fell down some stairs or whatever ... again, that's not something I'm going to make a big deal about because it happens. Perhaps you suggest Crawford rein in his drinking so he's not falling-down drunk, sure.

Thinking this is going to stop all their players from going out is a foolish endeavor, however. Hockey players are notorious for their drinking abilities and I doubt it's going to stop just because of this. Slow down? Possibly.

You think Kane hasn't had a drink since the cabbie incident a few years back? No fucking chance.

In fact, I'm not saying any of that nor am I suggesting it in the slightest. Teams know that players are going to let loose and unwind, both in season and out of season. However, I completely get why they would be upset when one of their major players gets an injury that can be directly linked to them drinking. It makes complete sense why they would be unhappy with it. Plenty of reasons why they would be unhappy with it. Sure, shit happens...but Crawford clearly didn't help his case here.

It isn't a big deal at the end of the day but it is going to cost the team cap space, could cost the team points, and is going to cost Rocky more money. I don't blame the front office one bit for not being thrilled with the situation.

They'll get upset. They'll shake a finger at Crow and tell him not do it again. And they probably should do that.

And then what?

Nothing.

Because this isn't that big of a deal.

Then what are you debating with me about? That is exactly what I am saying and have been the entire time. You kinda just made up irrelevant questions in your previous posts that I didn't even infer or make a notion towards. I haven't said anything more or less.

The questions and facts with this one are simple...
Is this going to cost the team cap space? Yes
Is this going to cost Rocky more money? Yes
Is this going to cost the team points? Potentially - considering Crawford is the clear #1 and gives this team the best chance to win

You were making it sound like you had an issue with the drinking. If that was a misinterpretation ... oops.

In my first post I said, "There is nothing wrong with guys having fun and letting loose". In my second post I said, "It isn't about getting hurt. It isn't about getting drunk. It is about getting hurt while drunk." I have not been saying that I had an issue with the drinking...the only issue is when drinking leads to a stupid injury, then it becomes a problem for the Blackhawks. Clearly these players are humans and have lives outside of hockey and they are going to drink and have a good time...absolutely no issue with that as long as it doesn't hurt their effort on the ice.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean here, but if this is you bashing Rise Against I'm going to ban your ass.

I just don't think they were good since 10 years ago. Perhaps they recaptured their early flair but I forgot of them for many years.

Honestly, I'll take drunk and tripped over... I hurt myself on a pealing knife because I was eating apples in bed.

Crows injury hasn't effected us at all. Who knows, maybe crow would have let in more than one goal in the past few games..... Hawks aren't missing a beat.

That really is a huge credit to the rest of the team. They sure as hell are not allowing anyone to crash the net.

Everyone should be able to enjoy themselves outside of work. I understand the ::shaking heads:: in the Hawks' organization but it's not like he got into a fight and broke his hand or someone broke his orbital bone. He slipped and fell. Whether alcohol was involved or not, that could happen to anyone.

Professional athletes should be held to a higher standard due to their higher than normal presence in the public space... but if the guy tripped and fell... could have happened to anyone, drunk or not.

True, but Havlat's injury still makes me laugh--especially because of the eunuchs on other boards wishing we kept him over Hossa.
