The Chicago Blackhawks recalled goaltender Alexander Salak from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs, leading to speculation that Corey Crawford's groin injury is more serious than first believed.

Crawford, who started the Blackhawks' first two games against the Dallas Stars, sat for both Monday and Tuesday practices. Coach Joel Quenneville consistently said Crawford was merely listing and that he should be fine for Thursday's home game against the Winnipeg Jets.

However, with practice at the United Center set to begin at 11 a.m., the Salak move means Crawford might be out.

With as volatile as Emery has been, it could be anything. haha

I almost said I hope it's an injury instead of him being mad for not playing one of the back to backs, but I don't hope it's an injury. And I don't hope it's personal as that could be just as bad... Shit there really is nothing to hope for here except a healthy speedy recovery for all involved, and hope that Salak is ready if needed.

Reports/tweets are now saying it's Emery (with the issues).

Can people just take a second to get their news in order before reporting it.

First!

Wait...

I sure didn't take long for the lack of a solid backup goalie to bite them in the ass.

I would imagine Crawford, if he is practicing today... I would also imagine something is going on with Emery, if Salak was recalled, and Emery is NOT on the ice.

I don't think he's still there though. It was Crawford and Salak with Emery having the flu per Quenneville.

Sounds like he's thinking of starting Salak tomorrow. Sassone reported he had not decided.

The goalie yesterday was a college kid that went to ASU and is transferring to Chicago.

WTF?

Richards plays both games for the regular season for the IceHogs. Both games are won with Richards in net.

Salak has not played a game yet since in the U.S. and they are bringing him up AND rumors of him starting????

Didnt the Hawks claim that the main reason to send Salak to the minors was to get him games, as opposed to sitting on the bench backing up Craw.

So what?

If Emery has the flu who exactly do you expect them to call up? Richards? If what ever is going on with Crawford doesn't allow him to play tomorrow night do you want Richards in there?

I'm confused on how anyone can be confused on this. Emery has the flu, can't practice. Why Richards played is maybe because he was there practicing long before Salak arrived? Ask the coach you sit close enough.

With Emery out, Salaks call up is no suprise what so ever. If Crawford can't go Salak playing is no suprise what so ever. Him not playing the first two games for the Hogs? Is it a big deal?
