I can't believe that Ron Harper wasn't even mentioned as a choice for PG. I was going to vote for him, but I couldn't. So instead, I voted for Hinrich... but even he lost to Steve Kerr and Norm Van Lier. Don't get me wrong... I love Stevie and Norm. But to take them over Harper and Hinrich? crazy

I also thought Kevin Johnson should have been closer to Steve Nash. And Jason Kidd should have won the Mavs' PG one... but he lost to Nash too.

Good timing, I was just gonna post this.

I picked mine, and these were the current percentages of starters picked. - Rami posted the percentages already. Nice.

Despite what Houheffna might think, I was not part of the .5% that voted for Ben Gordon :bullbang:

I think Norm Van Lier is the no-brainer there. Norm is the only all-star on that list. Unless Harp made an all-star team with the Cavs in the late 80s... I don't know for sure?

Same lineup as you but with Van Lier instead of Kirk.

I had Van Lier as my pg too. I actually really wanted to put Harper there just because I thought the Harper/Jordan/Pippen backcourt was so awesome.

Harper played SG for the Cavs and Clippers and was a BEAST back then... he made the All-star team in 1990. Maybe another time too...

Harper was still a beast as a Bull... he started at PG for all 3 of those last championship seasons... he was long and 6'5'' who would hustle like crazy and was scrappy. Great, great defender... he could dunk too (which was not something most other PGs could compete with.

In his prime, he was a 20+, 6+, 6+ caliber player... he wasn't a very good three-point shooter... but man... he was great. Soooo underrated.

Yeah man, Harper could defend all 3 perimeter positions... while Jordan and Pippen could defend them all too (as well as the low-post against most players).

Harper 6'5'' Jordan 6'6'' Pippen 6'7'' all lock-down perimeter defenders with LENGTH, SPEED, and ATHLETICISM...

best defensive perimeter of all-time.

Point guard: Michael Jordan.
Small forward: Michael Jordan.
Power Forward: Michael Jordan.
Center: ...Derrick Rose.

apparent joke win.

I wouldn't exactly call Harp a beast with the Bulls. He was a role player during the Bulls' three titles. He played the role well, don't get me wrong. He was a solid defender.

But when the Bulls brought him in, they brought him in to be the 2nd scorer behind Scottie Pippen in 94-95, and he was terrible. Jordan coming back made everyone forget how bad of a signing Harper was. But next to MJ, Harper was solid.

I love Harper though. Ask Doug and Fred. We played basketball about 2 weeks ago and I broke out my Ron Harper Bulls jersey. I think I'm one of the 4 people in the world that actually owns a Ron Harper Bulls jersey. I never saw another person with one :bullbang:

Speaking of Ron Harper, here's a funny video I posted of him (on youtube) after the 1996 title-clinching win.

NO WAY do I take Hinrich over Norm Van Lier! No way! What can Hinrich do better than Norm? Wasn't a better passer, never an allstar, one time all NBA defense. Norm was all league defense several times went to a few allstar games and led the league in assists. Not even close on that one...of course in a year maybe, Rose will be undisputed king of that position.

unless you count being whiter, there's nothing hinrich can do better than norm. rose will definitely own both the pg/0 guard position.

I'm surprised they didn't have Rose in there for PG. I think he wins it outright right now.

I think it's a much tougher call than you are giving it credit for...

They both shot about the same FG%, but Kirk Hinrich attempted and made for shots. He was a higher volume scorer, and he scored more per-attempt because he played in the era of the 3-pt line (and was a much better long-range shooter than Norm).

I'm willing to grant you that Norm was the better passer and somewhat better defender (both being great defenders), but they were a very similar breed on defense... number of All-Star appearances and All-whatever NBA team Awards are all subjective, so I don't take them seriously.

It takes some thought, but I would take Hinrich over Van Lier.

It pissed me off that Rose wasn't on the CHI PG list, but Rondo was on the BOS PG one... and BOS has a SHITLOAD more quality PGs than the Bulls have had...

Steve Nash and Rajon Rondo both = wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy way, way overrated.

Harper was still a beast on defense man. Like I said, he, Scottie, and Michael all could cover 3 positions (at least) between the 3 of them. All were incredibily long, tall, quick, scrappy, and on-ball guys.

That 1995 year was really the one season that the Bulls were out-of-sync from 1989-1999... They just lost Horace Grant and Scott Williams... they had NOBODY in the low-post... besides Pippen and Jordan (after he finally came back with 18 games left to play in the regular season).

Harper wasn't to blame for that year... the Bulls just run out of gas, and it is apparent if you watch that ORL Semi Final series...
