Correct. I think the Bears wish list is a big name at RT and a vet to go as a backup at LT. Poles will run with Jones next season as the starter. Maybe Bakhtari can be the backup next season on the cheap? I’m not sure GB keeps him but they probably do.
I agree it was always about a FA RT

Why are the Chiefs, perennial SB contenders tagging this bum for a 2nd time in a row instead of signing him long term?

Brown led the NFL with 58 pressures. Good thing he has a GOAT QB at evading pressure.
So the chiefs are happy to pay him top dollar 2x years in a row, but you the CCS genius and PFF guru happen to know more than their GM lol. Got it. If they end up signing him to a long term contract will you eat a shoe or something? Or maybe just for once admit you were wrong?

Doesn't really matter if he was on the Bears list or not, one less FA tackle mean all the others stock just rose.
I don't think the Chiefs tagging Brown (if they do) doesn't really come as a huge surprise. I don't think losing Brown has any effect on the right tackle market which is where I believe the Bears are going to target.

So he won’t be able to overspend on risky free agents that maybe have a 50% chance of hitting?

Smith was invisible in the playoff loss to the Bengals. He just simply doesn’t make a difference to justify the $20 million. UDFA Sanborn made just as many plays in the small sample size when compared to Smith. Sorry to burst your bubble
The rest of the league disagrees with you. We'll see 'll see if Sanborn can avoid being exposed for his lack of speed ---If he's able to stay healthy for more than a few games.

And the question remains: will there be quality players forPoles to spend all that cap space on?

Lmao, I know that he has enough money to not spend $20million on an off-ball linebacker that disappears in the playoffs

Just what, top 5 market value or is it top 10? Also there’s a penalty for back to back tags making it more expensive. I get it’s not a long term investment but it’s a very expensive 1 year deal. Also, you typically don’t tag ‘bad’ players which is something some people are claiming here that he is average at best due to his PFF pressures allowed stat.

I saw him do pretty well against the eagles. He didn’t seem to have any problems in the playoffs ??‍♂️

He had a crappy season the 1st half and really turned it on late, especially the playoffs.

I thought Orlando brown was bad and people didn’t even want the bears to sign him because of some obscure nonsensical reasoning or PFF stat.

Why are the chiefs, perennial SB contenders, tagging this bum for a 2nd time in a row?????
Because he will cost under 20 million and he fits KC's scheme, not the Bears'.

Chiefs’ Frank Clark says he gave up drinking alcohol this offseason. Was part of diet change that resulted in noticeable weight loss. Also says he had a heart-to-heart with Andy Reid after the season where Reid was honest with Clark about him not reaching expectations in 2021.
So ... he should start drinking alcohol again?

Sure but the guy is now a 4x pro bowler. Acting like bad half of 1 season all the sudden defines the player. There is a reason they franchised him the year prior. There’s a reason they brought him in the first place.

What system is that? Being able to pass block??
Outside zone.

Look at how often Jones was way to his left, blocking moving targets. Now imagine Brown trying to do that.

You can't sign or draft good players if they do not fit your scheme.

I don't recall making any claims about knowing more than them. I stated two things that are true at the moment. It appears they don't want to give him a long term deal and he led the NFL in pressures given up. So what am I admitting I am wrong about exactly? Are those things not currently true?

If he signs a long term contract then good for him. I still wouldn't give him 20m a year to give me production that is similar to what I expect from Braxton Jones going forward. Jones and Brown actually had the same PFF overall grade. One costs 20m and the other is 1m and likely to improve in his 2nd year.

I admit this isn't my area of expertise, but strategically tagging him twice would make sense cause you can cut him if he performs worse and not get ganked on dead money and shit. might be one of those players where he'll overachieve for the contract and then lays down after lol

isn't there a window after the draft where you can trade/cut players? or if he hasn't been tagged again and has no current deal they just walk?

So an idiot like @SugarWalls thinks that wanting to go for a player that does not fit the current scheme is a good idea. Not surprising.
