Been doing crossfit for over a year now. I made a post in regards to pros/cons that I can't link over my phone. Anyways, FT and Ommy have been pretty spot on with their assessments on it.

Boils down to this: I enjoy doing it, so I continue doing it. I'm 100% there are different approaches, this one works for me. Find the one that best works for you.

Oh, and nobody in a CF gym will make you do more than you can handle. I've seen it go other ways in other gyms.

I've seen awful things happen in CF gyms for people getting pushed past intelligent limits.

Is that the individual or the trainer? I've done things past my limits that fall squarely on me.

I like to think I've stopped doing that, but we'll see tonight.

Agreed. I saw some ridiculous things in the 70s and 80s like people standing on weight stacks to overload a "negative" rep. Like people not being spotted correctly or at all and having a barbell sitting in their neck or chest. Or even overtraining. I remember magazines advocating training arms/forearms so extensively that you "couldn't lift a pencil" at the end of the workout and we did. So you can overdo any system

Also, to back track from my first statement a bit: I mean to suggest the regular place I go, plus the four or five I've dropped in on have never pressured me to do more than I can handle.

Yeah, that's why I kind of back tracked a bit. I think the problem is that it became too popular, too fast. Couple that with a desire to start your own box and you get shitty trainers. I've been lucky with the places I've gone

Find the right(actually qualified) coach/trainer and you'd be good. But that's not exclusive to crossfit.

Yeah, its too bad cause the social aspect (peer pressure in other words) appealed to me.

I dunno, maybe it's just me - but when I go to a typical gym nobody ever wants to seem bothered. I go to my crossfit place and everybody is encouraging you to keep going, finish all that. That has become the biggest appeal for me. I understand not everyone needs that, but maybe I do, and I enjoy it.

Also: yes I did overdue it tonight. Which was my first workout in a week since being knocked on my ass with the flu.
