I listened to the Sox broadcast most of the night and they gave a bunch of props to Starlin Castro, and made him and Pena the players of the game. So they are definitely homers, but I thought they were fair.

However, this was maybe only the second or third time I've sat through a Sox broadcast so I might be wrong :D

Was any explanation given for the foul ball/tag out call that Ozzie got ejected over? It didn't make much sense to me.

CSN had multiple replays that had it on the plate..

Even after the game Ozzie said umps got the call right.

I never saw a top down replay over the plate which probably would have been the only angle that should it definitively. It was very close one way or the other, and Geo made the right play by picking it up as quick as possible and tagging Ramirez.

The one they showed from the outfield angle slowed down and zoomed in was good enough..

No southwest plane cams at the cell :smug2:

Guillen said the ump was right and that really is all that matters at the end.

As long as the ball is on homeplate it is fair. If it rolls back off of the plate it is foul.

As long as the ball is on homeplate it is fair. If it rolls back off of the plate it is foul.

also, for clarity...it doesn't matter where the ball starts...it matters where the ball is when contact with the fielder or batter is made. The ball can start foul and roll back fair, and is considered a fair ball. likewise, it can start fair and roll foul, thus being a foul ball if it is picked up then. The ball in question looked to me like it hit the dirt behind the plate, but was picked up on the plate. That would qualify it as a fair ball.

From plays I've seen, if the ball hits home plate it is a fair ball.
