Do anything but Carnival. We were promised a free room upgrade that we didn't get. Most of the food there was disgusting. The ship was dirty. There were a lot of obnoxious people from Nashville and Atlanta on our ship.

I'm assuming it's too late to switch but if you can, I'd recommend switching to almost any other cruise ship company.

I'll tell you more about it if you want to here it.

We have done a Disney and two Royal Caribbean cruises. Good times, good food, port calls are too short.

Buy a mouthwash bottle, cut the plastic anti-tamper off carefully with a razor, clean it, fill it with alcohol, glue the anti- tamper plastic back on, and then put it in your suitcase instead of your carry on. They will deliver your suitcase to your room for you and those bags are checked less carefully.

Just came back from a Western Caribbean Cruise. The easiest way to get booze on the ship is to buy either white rum or vodka and put it in one of those large quart waterbottles and just carry it on board with you. I took a half gallon with me. No problem. You can also buy these devices which fit in your shoes so when the xray is done it just looks like a pair of shoes.

I have been on 5 cruises. Alaska the best then Hawaii. Not so much the Caribbean or Mexico. My wife and I love it. Any specific questions Rush PM me

Carnival is not my favorite either. Princess is good.

So basically like Saudi Arabia?

As far as cruising goes, I've done it a few times. It's fun. But now days I'd much rather just fly to one of the islands and stay there for a week instead. Annoying tourists with a penchant for mediocre all you can eat food really isn't my scene.

Or, what I really want to do is get a bareboat charter in BVI for a week. One of these days....

I have never had a problem on the water. Hell, I work in the Marine industry.

Both the wife and I got sick as hell on our first and only cruise. Could not wait for it to be over.

I've seen a lot of Cruise movies and don't think he's that great an actor. Sometimes the experience is good, others, it's bad.

Not to sound pessimistic, but Carnival is more of a blue collar, every day cruise line. I've been on many Carnival cruises, they're ok for the shorter hops, like long weekend to Bahama's, I personally wouldn't want to do week long cruise, but I wouldn't turn one down either on Carnival. My personal favorite cruise line is Cunard (any of the boats, Mary, Elisabeth), and the Norwegian Cruise Line.

Listening in. Wife wants to do an Alaska cruise for our next anniversary. Dad did one this year and liked it.

Disney really is the best? I never would have thought that.

When i went two years on the Dream I didnt either. Me and my wife (girlfriend at the time) thought we would be looking like creepy pedophiles because we thought Disney would be full of families. While it was, Disney goes out of it's way to section them off and let the adults mingle. There are plenty of bars, dancehalls and activities. There was no casino though. Customer service was some of the best I've ever had as well

That's the one thing you have to love about Disney. Good to know it is possible to have fun as an adult though.

The wife and I have done plenty of cruises and cruise lines through out the world. I will say that the top ones (for us) are Celebrity and Disney. We will be doing a Viking cruise in the next year and I hear that they are outstanding as well.

Never had a problem with Celebrity and find that those that run the entertainment side of things go out of their way to know the guests and your name. Still in awe that on out Aussie\NZ cruise that the lady to ran the entertainment side of things knew our names and bits of us discussed as she wished us well as we were getting off the ship at the end of the cruise.

Disney is Disney and things are designed and expected to be a perfect experience for the guests. Their workers have to be absolutely outstanding people to keep that up for the whole cruise and many cruises over time.

This pretty much sums up the recent traveling I've been doing, but going on my 1st cruise through Carnival. What can I expect? Looking forward to playing blackjack, staying drunk, and hopefully enjoying clear water instead of the dirt brown muck water they have here in North Carolina.

If you've gone, how was it?

I assume your cruise will be through the Caribbean. If you hit Barbados, make your way to the Mt. *** Rhum Distillery and do their tour. Great tour and the pours are very heavy and limitless at the end of the tour. And their Rhum is good.

every time I hear a cruise disaster/accident it is always carnival. I heard they suck ass.

Hope it turns out fine though.

Just got back. Went on a 7 Day Cruise. Made and Lost money in the casino, amazing dinners every night, Cozumel was amazing, Roatan (Mahogany Bay) and Belize were fun but not as much as Cozumel. Had a room with a balcony so it wasn't as claustrophobic. Alcohol pass was very much needed and wound up saving us a couple hundred bucks.

Definitely a vacation I would want to do once every 2 years or so, definitely feel like staying on land for quite some time.

Nah, Carnival Dream was pretty solid. If I went on another one, want to do Oasis of the Seas or a nicer one though.
