Tweeted by Muskat.

Here's the Brewers:

Carrie Muskat ‏ @CarrieMuskat
#Brewers lineup vs #Cubs: Morgan cf, Weeks 2b, Braun lf, Ramirez 3b, Hart rf, Kottaras c, Green 1b, Izturis ss, Wolf p

Randy Wolf being LHP probably prompted the righty-loading. Not sure about his platoon splits for the season or career but I'm sure someone will look it up :D

They're just righty-loading the lineup as much as they can. I bet they would've thrown Soto at 1B if they weren't afraid of having both catchers in the lineup.

35 ABs for Mather
93 ABs for Morel

debate over.

The debate was over because it was a stupid comment to make because
1) Mather has been hitting and Morel hasn't
2) We are talking about a bench guy that is only in the lineup because a lefty is on the mound compared a "starter"

Wolf:

Career split
vs. righties .261/.330/.428 OPS .758
vs. lefties .233/.305/.398 OPS .703

This season so far
vs. righties .349/.395/.550 OPS .945
vs. lefties .290/.389 /.516 OPS .905

Should be stated that he hasn't faced many lefties this season and thus this season's split is highly skewed. Sveum is likely basing this off career numbers.

As for the Cubs...this is the first time they've faced Wolf this season. I thought they had trouble with a lefty pitcher before, but that was Chris Narveson before his injury.

Wolf is 6-11 with a 4.22 ERA in his career against the Cubs.

All right, the fact that Mather has hit better than Morel doesn't make it a dumb comment. The fact that Mather has the same number of doubles as Morel does with a third of the at bats doesn't matter. The fact that he has two more homeruns doesn't matter. The fact that he only has 6 less hits despite a third of the at bats doesn't matter. You guys should feel so bad for us that our fifth OF who is only in the lineup to stack the lineup against a lefty is outhitting your starting 3B.

That really depends on whether you think Albert fell off a cliff and whether the Angels totally fucked up with that contract

He is outhitting them right now. That says nothing about future production, but the idea that it is a terrible thing that a guy that is doing his job is getting a start in a favorable matchup is a dumb comment.

We'll chalk it up as a weak attempt at trolling and go back to your regularly scheduled Cubs series thread :D
