Run expectancy chart is based on all batters throughout multiple seasons if I am not mistaken. You have to factor in the lineup into the situation as well. And looking at the run expectancy chart tangotiger has from 1993-2010 the odds really aren't that much higher for one run between the two situations.

Right, the run expectancy charts don't care who the next batter is, it's an aggregate. You'd have to look at the OPS or wOBA of the next batter to determine whether you want to give up that out, and for the most part, unless the next batter is a little leaguer, you swing away.

Anyone want to do a little research on run expectancy and the bunt? I think "The Book" and other blogs have done it before but I'd like to try to run through last night's buntfest in a blog and didn't know if I had the time to do the work myself until tonight. You will of course get the virtual pat on the back :D

It was reminiscent of last year's World Series where TLR and Ron Washington were trying to give each other outs with bunts and IBBs galore.

What are you looking for Rice? Just going through RE chart and discussing how the odds of one run and average number of runs was affected in each circumstance or something else?

Maholm is spotted a three run lead to start the game. Great start to the game for the Cubs.

This game has about summed up the season for the Cubs. I do like the fight they've shown. I will post some of my various thoughts here in a bit from the time I was watching it on gamecast at school.

Wtf Cardenas. Now I see why Sveum didn't pinch hit with you last night since you've decided that seeing more than one pitch is only a minor league thing.
