"The Long and Rewarding Journey"
The long and rewarding journey that leads to the playoffs
Will never occur here
I've seen that plan before
It always leads to failure
Lead us to the playoffs

The wild and young prospects that Theo acquired
Has left a few fans crying for a chance
Why leave us hoping here,
Let us know the way
Many times I've been wrong and many times I've raged
Anyway you'll never know the many ways they’ve tried
And still they lead the Cubs back to the long and rewarding journey
You left us hopeless here one hundred and five years ago
Don't leave us waiting here, Lead us to the playoffs

But still they lead me back to the long and rewarding journey
You left us hopeless here a one hundred and five years ago
Don't keep us waiting here (Don't keep us wait), lead us to the playoffs
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Nate the Great just winning ball games. Better trade him before we get closer to .500.

Dude.... stop. We're 15.5 games out of first. We could go on a 10 game winning streak and it wouldn't matter. It's a foregone conclusion that Cincy and Pittsburgh are going to wrap up the two Wild Cards. Enjoy the Cubs being 12-10 in the month of July. We're playing well and the games have been exciting. That's more than we could ask for. Couple that with the potential of guys like Olt, Lake, Vitters and Szczur finishing out the season getting playing time and you should be excited.

Save your breath. If the Cubs lose, some people will whine about the rebuilding. If they win, people will whine about having traded away players (while we were 15.5 back)

I'm mostly just being sarcastic. Even though a lot of guys here aren't part of the larger picture, and we suck, it seems they like trading away our best guys. While I get they wanna get the most for the people that won't be here, they got to keep some of these guys around so the games aren't completely unwatchable, right? If that made sense at all....

So is it dumb luck with Rusin or is he starting to look legit. Watching some vid on him. He has that big hook and moves it around. Not sure on the velocity of his FB or if he has a serviceable change. Still haven't seen a hook like that sense Marshall and Lilly.

That has been their method for years. Try to win 72 instead of 66, at the expense of the future. Keeping guys who don't figure into a championship team in the future, in order to win a couple more games in a nonplayoff year, is a very poor plan.

Theo must feel like Rachel Phelps in Major League at this point.

Giants starters allowed 3 ER in 22 IP (2 of those coming on solo HR's today)

Overall, the Giants allowed 4 ER in three games.

And the Cubs swept.

Nice job by the Cub pitching staff and the D last night at the end of that 1-0 game with multiple force outs at home. Very nice.
