The amount of time he spent on Lester's throwing issues was egregious, especially when it became clear that it had no effect on the game whatsoever. Just awful announcing. Wish we could have Vasgersian again.

Well I was talking more generally than anything specific to this series. And to be fair, the dodgers were obviously trying to get to his issues so it warranted discussion even if that discussion is pretty fucking stupid. Alls I'm sayin here is I often have to catch cubs games on tv from other sources because for whatever reason i'm blacked out like 80% of the time. And there's some announce crews for other teams that are horrendous and far worse than buck. The mets duo comes to mind. Seem to recall them siding with terry collins quite a bit when Matz was having arm pain where Collins basically said suck it up.... and then half the Mets staff went down later in the year to serious arm injuries that require surgery.

Its a troll job. Fox knows how many people hate him and they still put him on. There has never been a game he has announced that I havent cringed through most of it.

Yeah...I agree with this. Rose + Arod seems like a troll job too. The first episode it was kinda cringey tension, and most of the cast just got quiet and were waiting to see what these 2 horrible people would do when they started getting after each other.

Arod being able to handle it with class was the surprise, probably to Fox as well. So it does seem they are trolling hard for viewership, just like they overpay all ESPN top talent. They are trying SOOOOOOOOO hard to be relevant to sports.

In praise of Joe Buck, his final call of the DP tonight was magnificent: "The Cubs win the pennant!" Followed by two and a half minutes of silence.

Thanks, Joe.

His recent crush on the Kershaw is not my biggest issue. He's been crushing over Farve for years, Aaron Rodgers ever since. Giving credit is fine, but he's consistently over the top and ridiculously repetitive in doing so, which really sucks for the opposition on top of being beaten already.

Cubs play-by-play has always been fairly neutral and at least they don't go on & on & on & on & on at every commercial break, return, and in-game. That said, this is just a silly article of course. Curious your thoughts.

Joe Buck probably sucks Kershaw and Bumgardner's cocks in his dreams. The guy is so biased that I can't even stand the listen to the games. Good thing for internet radio because the best way to watch a national Cubs broadcast is to turn the sound down and listen to the radio.

Buck has always been kind of boring and odd but I haven't noticed any issues with him calling games this post season. I just think Cubs fans are being oversensitive cunts about this.

His biggest issue is he doesn't know baseball. Instead he locks on the "hot" player and talks nonstop about him. Kershaw last Series and shwarburger last night.

Mute the tube and turn on 670.

He knows baseball, probably better than most, but that's not his job. He's there to spin a narrative. I call it the Olympic-ization of sports broadcasting. It's designed to appeal to the most casual of fans. Luckily Smolz is there for the nuts and bolts and he's becoming one of my favorite analysts. Guy tells you the next pitch before it's thrown.

I notice Cubs fans didn't have an issue when the play by play guys are creaming all over Baez.

I did. Even that was a bit much. He spins a narrative based on the hot player du jour like TC said. Which, for the somewhat casual fan just tuning in for the playoffs, is what Fox wants. But if you're used to actual intelligent baseball commentary he's awful. NLCS he sucked Kershaw's dick raw. Then when the tide turned he was all over Javy. When every fan base hates you for the same reason you must be doing something wrong.

I miss Len and JD. Sure that's homerish, but they know baseball.

I found it annoying. He was gushing over him about a pop up. Him and Schwarber. It's way over the top. I will say this though, I thought his call of the cubs winning the pennant was awesome.

He was good during that moment, I think he was actually silent for about 2:30 before he spoke but when he did finally say something the timing and what he said was well done.

I'm talking about the actual second they won the pennant. His excitement sounded sincere. Maybe it was. Then it was just silence.
