OT: Tony La Russa Retiring

Just announced...congratulations on a good career.

I could see him taking time off an coming back, not to be a manager, but to be back in baseball..

He'll take a Joe Torre type position within baseball more than likely.

That being said... :crazydance:

Kind of out of no where, but no better way to leave than on top. Like Elway and MJ (the first time).

This frees up more time for him to have an oil change 5 times a day.

If no one had noticed, LaRussa has had a drinking issue in the past.

Okay...now the baseball part of the conversation is, he's a helluva manager, and the Cards probably don't win ANY championships w/out him...and I'm glad he's out of our division -- although I see Francona being a solid hire for St. Louis.

Is anyone seriously surprised at this? It's been pretty clear he wants to buy a baseball team....so just put two and two together and it's not suprising one bit

He needs a team that he can watch and support... He can't do that with the Mavs right now.
