The numbers are definitely there for Werth and there are a few teams that have the cash to spend that the Phillies probably won’t. The Yankees and Red Sox will probably make a presentation. So too will the Cubs and Angels.

Have Phillies Seen the Last of Jayson Werth?

I say pass. He would help, but he's not what the Cubs need. He plays OF and is right handed. Thoughts?

The Cubs don't need another big FA deal on their payroll and they probably aren't gonna contend next season. Plus Jayson Werth is a streaky player, something the Cubs already have in Soriano, Aramis, and Colvin

I like Werth, but not the right signing.

Dear Lord, I would love this.

But he's going to cost way too much to play in an OF that has way too many.

Just wondering, since when is Aramis streaky?

Love this player and in the perfect world i would love for the Cubs to sign him. But, he's not the right for the Cubs right now.

Btw, i used to post on another Cubs forum, years ago, and Werth's cousin posted there and lives in Chicago so there would be a small connection to the city which is probably why he'd keep an open eye for us.

If this has any truth to it, the only explanation there could be is they will try to unload Fukudome and move Colvin to 1B. But i doubt Cubs are serious about getting Werth.

either way not worth the cost of his option, not by a long shot. alot of the homer cub fans bow down to him like he is the best player in chicago history. he is only on the decline and very injury prone.

They could move Werth to 1B if this was to happened. But, that would not happen. Also, they want a LH, not a RH.

cubs wont spend. christ.

No offense, but do you have to post that in every thread? Its a rumor on the internet and at the very least is worth us discussing. Its the offseason and just talking about things like this is at least worth passing the time.

It's not likely, but what else do we have to talk about?

Regardless so help me God if we sign another outfielder to a big multi year multi million dollar contract I will drive to Chicago and punch Tom Ricketts in the fucking throat.
