I like Werth as a complimentary player, but I don't like him as a big contract guy. I feel like his numbers would go down as soon as the paychecks started showing up.

Plus, he doesn't hit left handed.

No offense, but do you have to post that in every thread? Its a rumor on the internet and at the very least is worth us discussing. Its the offseason and just talking about things like this is at least worth passing the time.

It's not likely, but what else do we have to talk about?

Regardless so help me God if we sign another outfielder to a big multi year multi million dollar contract I will drive to Chicago and punch Tom Ricketts in the fucking throat.

Talk about the future of this team? maybe talk about specific realistic lineups etc.

Boras Responds to Amaro's Comments on Werth

"Though Boras would not comment on what his client would be seeking on the open market, it’s clear that the starting price will be something in the range of the seven-year, $120 million deal that Boras client Matt Holliday received from St. Louis last winter."

^^^^^ That is why you dont talk about it, it is a waste of time.

it can be very productive on a message board if discussions where about realistic ideas and facts. it should not be fantasy talk all the time. that is the point.

Bull shit. Its a sports forum you can discuss anything you want to. If there is a rumor that the Cubs are eyeing Werth it can be discussed. Realistic or not it can be discussed.

We can talk about the 1918 World Series if we want. Does anyone here actually think the Cubs will sign Werth? Probably not, but its worth talking about. Its a small forum without a lot of activity and any thread that sparks discussion can and should be discussed.

Meaningless discussion over fantasy land ideas 1) is a waste of time 2)any lurkers who are "baseball" fans will shy away from registering and jumping into a forums with a bunch of guys who think that the cubs are going to get player x and than spend another 15 mill and get player y. It isnt even close to being realistic what has been going on in here the last few weeks. you can disagree and that is fine by me, im stating my opinion.

I'll post every Cubs related rumor that I find in the offseason all winter.

 "devil without a cause, Im going platinum" whoops sorry started singing. anyway, yes waldo please post all rumors, especially the ones that are ideas from twatfaced kids that blog nothing but shit, but its a rumor right? im going to create a fake cubs blog, and say the cubs are going for jeter, if you find it on the web, i bet you post it as a rumor.

Discussion about these rumors could also lead to members signing up to be apart of that discussion. Or, if they see a rumor that hasn't been posted, they will sign up to post it. It's a two way street.
