I was thinking if KB returned then you swap Maybin and Bryant.

Moot point then.

Bottom line is you need to push Happ into a RBI slot as he is the best hitter we have. And to be honest good for him. He has paid in spades to get there.

maybin is not worthy of playing every day IMO. And IMO, KB can play some OF when he comes back. Against lefties, I’d have bote play 3rd and play an OF of Schwarher, Happ, and Bryant...with Martinez at DH. That is the best lineup against lefties in my eyes

Well I would go with a line up like

Maybin LF
Rizzo 1B
Happ CF
Heyward/Martinez RF
Schwarber DH
Contreras/Caritini C
Kipnis/Horner 2B
Bote 3B
Baez SS

The biggest issue right now is Baez. 62 wRC+. His glove justifies everything with him but it is time to put that first. A hard guess is he plays off of the fan energy and that is a dead battery.

That lineup is laughable

That lineup is laughable

Today:

Happ. .300
Bryant .175
Rizzo .233
Baez .200
Schwarber .228
Contreras .196
Heyward .286
Martinez .239
Kipnis .226

Well Rossy is going to live or die with Baez in a prime RBI slot.

What a anemic line up...

I can live with 8 runs from an "anemic" lineup. What's getting old is "relief" pitchers walking someone in near every outing.

The whole O was based off of the regular line up. The RH slant had no effect.

To be honest we never know what we are getting with Javy. He still went 1 for 5. It just happened to be at the right moment.

Wilson and Rizzo also have been slumping. A BA at or below .200 is nothing to write home to mommy about.

1 game doesn't mean much especially against a shit ball team. But I will take it.

The reality is their stats is equal to their reliability. There is no arguing that part. Outside of Happ you don't expect much until the numbers say so.

Regardless the Cubs are going to have to survive off of their O. The staff has too many holes to be dependable. Add to it they would rather hold Alzolay's clock that utilize him. Which tells me that the plan has a larger value over this year's success. The fact that they traded for cash or PTNL rings true. They are not in it 100%

Christ....

The Cubs’ weekend plans were altered a bit on Wednesday with the news that left-hander José Quintana was placed on the 10-day injured list due to left lat inflammation. The move is retroactive to Aug. 31.

The 31-year-old Quintana, who was previously sidelined eight weeks with a left thumb injury, had recently logged two three-inning outings in relief, and he was presumed to be Tyler Chatwood’s replacement when the right-hander went on the IL with an elbow injury. Now, the Cubs will have to replace the replacement and figure out how to piece together a rotation that will face the Cardinals five times beginning Friday, including a doubleheader on Saturday. Before his injury, Quintana was the likely choice to pitch one of those two games.

Options include right-handers Adbert Alzolay and Tyson Miller, who are both active at the alternate training site in South Bend, Ind. They could also turn to Colin Rea, who was a starter prior to joining the Cubs this year. Twenty-six of his 34 appearances have been in a starting role.
