OMG, I'm loving this activity. Whatever, Thomas was a lower-level spect anyway.
The Cubs announced that they acquired Robert Coello from the Red Sox for minor league infielder Tony Thomas. The Red Sox designated Coello for assignment last week and moved closer to a deal this afternoon.

Coello led Red Sox minor leaguers with 130 strikeouts last year, before pitching in the Dominican Winter League and the Mexican Pacific League. He spent last season in the upper minors, where he posted a 3.86 ERA with 10.9 K/9 and 3.7 BB/9 in 107 1/3 innings as a starter and reliever. The Red Sox called the 26-year-old up for a six-game stint in the majors at the end of the season.

Not a fan of the trade because I just think it was a waste.

Not a fan either, but I wouldn't call it a waste. It wasn't really good, but it wasn't bad either. It is meh.

Tony Thomas isn't very good but Coello could become a dependable middle reliever IMO. This is an irrelevant trade though IMO

He doesn't have bad stuff. His stats in the minors are not bad but majors league stats aren't great.

Or not... because Kerry Wood is automatically the best. :)[/QUOTE

I was looking more at future years since I doubt this kid will see the big league club this year. I do agree on Wood....at least in my heart.
