We should get something solid for him or we shouldn't move him. Regardless the only reason to do this is if you think Jackson is ready now.

I would prefer to wait til closer to the deadline til there is a little more of a market for him.

I wouldn't hate Soriano batting 3rd the way he's seeing the ball so far. If Ram and Pena could start hitting some bombs it would offer nice protection for him too.

Bruce Miles: Cubs not looking to deal Byrd right now.

I think they will trade Byrd around July and then call up Jackson. That's my prediction as of now. Like you said, I think they'll get more.

If we could snag some decent prospects, I'd be okay with it.

I am for it anyway closer to trade deadline to get better value.(wait for injuries from contenders) I want Jackson in the bigs getting to learn like Castro had/has

From what I have seen of Jackson at Smokies Park he is a stud.... But Felix Pie, Micah, and many others looked like studs too so we will see.

I also hope for sooner than later.

He is a stud but yea you cant bring him up too early.... If they make a move with byrd around the deadline that might be the perfect time to call the guy up. But bring him to Iowa first and see how he does before he gets the call.

I don't see Byrd as extremely likely to be dealt, just because his contract isn't bad on the books and he's great in the clubhouse.

I love Byrd;s personality and tenacity. He goes 110 percent when most players in MLB do not nowadays.

I dont have a problem with AA call ups but either way.

Fukudome or Byrd need to go by the end of the year. Fukudome's contract is up after this year, and Byrd is a decent outfielder, but not great by any means. While Brett Jackson has a bright future, I can't see him being ready just yet. He is succeeding in AA, but "The Show" is a whole different animal. Pitchers have better developed tertiary pitches and know how to get batters out. Hopefully he will contribute in the future, but an organization always runs the risk of burning out a young player.
