First item: Cubs announce ALL-STAR Bryan LaHair was DFA.
LaHair DFA'd and headed to Japan? There's gotta be room for him somewhere in the majors.
Traded Brigham back to Texas for Barret Loux. Conflicting reports on who gets PTBNL but Miles responded to my tweet saying it is the Cubs getting it.

Brigham, 24, was assigned to Double-A Tennessee after acquired but was limited to two starts, going 0-2 with a 19.64 ERA because of right elbow strain that ended his season. The Cubs and Rangers had a verbal agreement to revisit the deal if Brigham was injured.
It has come to my attention that Casey Coleman is still on the roster
On the roster currently the Cubs have Marmol, Camp, Believeau (know I misspelled it), Chapman, Bowden, Dolis, Russell, McNutt and Putnam as the obvious in house candidates. Cabrera is being stretched out, but could be in the bullpen. Vizcaino should be able to pitch sometime mid season as well. The Cubs also have Castillo, Rusin, Raley, and Concepcion, but the eight guys listed above are probably the bullpen unless they add someone else.Who's in the Cub bullpen now? Maybe they figure Casey Coleman is useful in small doses.
Yeah Struck has to stick on the roster the "whole season". But given how advanced Struck is I am going to guess that a team like the Astros or Marlins can stash him at the end of their bullpen for the 90 days. And then yeah he gets a phantom injury which he can pitch in the minors for a month or so on rehab just like Castillo. Also, unless Nick Struck is going to stick on the other team's 25-man for the entire season (assuming they don't Lendy Castillo him with some phantom injury) the Cubs will get him back anyway, right?
So I just looked at Barret Loux's stats and I'm pretty happy with this trade. I'm also wondering if the Rangers know something the Cubs do not know
