After posting a 3-4 road record, the Cubs welcome the first place San Diego Padres to town for a 4 game set.

Pitching matchups:
Mon: Kevin Correia (9-7, 4.86era) vs. Tom Gorzelanny (6-6, 3.65era)
Tue: Jon Garland (11-8, 3.41era) vs. Randy Wells (5-10, 4.60era)
Wed: Clayton Richard (10-5, 3.80era) vs. Casey Coleman (0-0, 8.64era as RP)
Thur: Mat Latos (12-4, 2.32era) vs. Carlos Zambrano (4-6, 5.27era)

Series Notes:
*Thomas Diamond was sent to the bullpen and Casey Coleman will get his first major league start on Wednesday.
* Starlin Castro is expected to get the night off and Darwin Barney will get the start at SS.
* Soriano should return to the lineup today or tomorrow after getting a couple days off because he has been struggling.

On twitter from the CCO. The Tribune reported it, by saying Piniella said Castro will get day off and Barney will start at SS. I will try to find link.

The Padres have good pitching, which normally would spell demise, but since we do well against those teams we should lose to, I'm say we win at least two. We'll take the first two games.

Because I pay attention to pre-game shows and they said he would. because Coleman and him were a battery down at AAA, so Piniella said he'd start when Coleman does.

u want to do what's best for the players..not the fans....even the rowdy,crazy,mob that is the chicago cubs fans...

take for example slowey's no hitter...slowey had 7 no hit innings...and over 100 pitches....so he was taken out because of risk of injury...of course the fans didnt like it but it will benefit the team which is ultimately more important...

and yes i know this cubs team isnt going anywhere this year...dont remind me...but you still dont want to overplay players and have a higher risk of injuries

I kind of wish he would get an off day more often honesty, it didn't help that we haven't really had a backup shortstop that Lou trusted since Castro came up (keep in mind Lou didn't want to move theriot back and forth).
