What has Clowney done for the Texans exactly? Hell what has the great JJ Watt gotten them? They didn't even make the playoffs the past 2 years.

No matter how many studs they stack on that defense they're still held back by their lack of a franchise QB. I bet they wish they had drafted Bortles in hindsight.

Oh for **** sakes. Sorry, i should have said a Julius Peppers type. Or what most people think predraft is a cant miss once in a generation player.

Doesn't matter what defensive player you stick into this hypothetical scenario, my point still stands. Getting a legit franchise QB takes precedence over any defensive player for this franchise. If the Bears have the opportunity to get the best QB in the draft they shouldn't be passing that up for anyone at any other position.

the Bears actually tried that strategy of drafting quarterbacks until they landed a good one.

it took about 8 years I think, but they eventually got it right with Rex Grossman until he destroyed his ankle eh LOL

truthfully I place more faith in the current Bears vs. the 90s or 2000s Bears. that counts for something I think.
No they didn't. They have taken some late round flyers, tried out dozens of UDFAs and brought in numerous journeymen types.

However, since winning their last Super Bowl three decades ago. The Bears have drafted a quarterback in the first two rounds three times.

That is not really making an effort to draft a good one.

What im actually trying to say is.

Going into the draft your bigboard looks like this: THIS IS ONLY AN EXAMPLE
OT, OLB, DE, CB, OLB, G, QB, OLB, OT, S

You try to trade back and no takers. Do you take the QB?

Nothing wrong with taking the QB. Me, personally i just prefer BPA.

It's not apples vs oranges. it's exposing how skilled you are at evaluating talent ...

Onedud and his usual skirting :lmao:

His evaluations are special and it is like picking on a brain dead troll. Too easy. He will never own up...just post dud one liners and look like his usual brave self

And your post is stupidity at it's finest. Why exactly didn't we make the playoff's that year ? This should be amusing ...

And just to add... Cutler was the 6th ranked QB that year.

Onedud is very special and is a fantastic skirter......I hope he never changes

Agreed 100%. If there is a legit prospect at qb.

Yes, you take the QB...a franchise QB can make up for the shortcomings on a team.

To be fair I did make a mistake. I was actually looking at this http://espn.go.com/nfl/qbr/_/year/2013 Then linked you the NFL.com site figuring it would show roughly the same thing. I was wrong, it happens... As for me being dumb, maybe but at least I'm not the psychotic ex girlfriend who spends her entire life dwelling on her ex...

You did that wrong

Agree to disagree.

I understand that thought process for sure. The thing is though if he ends up no good and the players you had ahead of him turn out to be good then you could very well be out of a job.

I can see drafting the best qb in the draft but if we end up drafting say 5-10 (where i think it will be) and the top 1 or 2 qb's are gone. Would you reach?

I question the truthfulness of the title. You have to have heart to show emotion. Cutler has no heart.

I get it. You are a hater. There's no shame in that and I honestly feel you are partially right in the way you feel. The issue is this draft doesn't have a franchise guy. Saying Goff/Cook/whoever will be better is like saying Clausen will be better (which we all know isn't the case). I'd make an argument this draft class doesn't have a prospect that's in the Winston/Mariota conversation, let alone someone who can provide 'consistently respectable play from the QB spot for teh next 10+ years.
Much respect to you pegger, but this is nonsense.....

No one knew Brady would turn out to maybe be the greatest qb of all time. That's why he was drafted in the 6th round. No one knew then that Rodgers is on pace to maybe be the greatest of all time, that's why he dropped on draft day...

The point is that no one truly knows how good a player will be, including Goff. But you have take a chance if it is there. That is what the Patriots and Packers did and it has worked out amazingly...

Being scared to draft because someone possibly may not be good as Cutler is not a sound strategy in my opinion. You would think a GM is thinking foward. And thinking forward does NOT show Cutler being in your plans. He would be in his mid 30s by then. His is already going toward the downside of his career. I now believe that we seen Cutler's ceiling. And if that is the case then it is time move on to see if there is someone out there who has a higher ceiling.

ND is horrible.
What does Cutler caring or crying or being an all around great guy have to do with not being a good QB?

First 5 posters in this thread are every bit as obnoxious as the delusional haters. Thank jeebsus for the Cutler subforum cause all you bleeding cunts deserve each other.

Botfly making good posts on the reg since the season starts.

Bashed you when I thought you were not adding enough; now I have to admit recently you're the voice of reason often in these repetitive type threads we all whine in.......good job brougham.

Give it a rest fanboys, he sucks, he is injury prone, he has horrible body language, terrible pocket presence, lost any accuracy, turnover machine, just stop it.

Yep. Not only that only that the only real actual emotion Cutler has really shown is when he wants to give his receivers & linemen shit for making a mistake by smirking, glaring, yelling, or grabbing them by the face mask in front of millions of people.
