Even Edwin Jackson has started to show his frustrations with Sveum. If the guy manages the club to 100 losses his first year, and now likely 95 in his second, how many chances are you going to give the guy to right himself? 95 losses is 95 losses...

Nobody would do much with that roster, his problem is how he messes up young players and shit.

Sveum has been dealt a shit hand - the problem is that he hasn't even bluffed it well. He's not a + coach.

The real question should be, who do you want coaching the Cubs next year? realistically...

Then why didn't Brad Mills survive that in Houston???

It's not a matter of "Coach X in Situation Z was fired, therefore Coach Y also in Situation Z will be too", if the front office doesn't see a clear long-term upgrade, and doesn't see Sveum as a factor in Castro and Rizzo struggling, then they won't act on firing him IMO.

Fair enough, but as I've made known in my other thread, I don't see the upside in retaining Svuem as manager. Our clubhouse has been a dead zone in the season's second half.

If the goal is to win at the MLB level: Joe Girardi or Ron Gardenhire.

If the goal is to build the farm system and sell off assets at MLB level: Dale Sveum

Girardi won't be available.

Gardenhire seems like a big name with no real upgrade from previous managers to me. His career winning % is under 52%.

Girardi's contract is up at the end of the season.

Gardenhire also had a lot of 90+ win seasons before the Twins started blowing chunks, which a big part is Mauer and Morneau injuries.

Did Sandberg get a full-time contract or is he just the interim manager for Philly?

He's interim manager, but I don't want that Cub legend anywhere near this trainwreck.

I know the ship has sailed, but he would have been my choice over both Quade and now Sveum. He did a very good job with the MiLBers that supposedly are no good at the MLB level.

Sandberg is not going to manage the Cubs, so you can end your hopes on that possibility completely.
