Dan Bernstein is a "realist."

If you're against your home team and constantly negative, then you know what you're talking about............

LOL Packers fans would have done the same thing if it was the other way around! Again, Bernstein has to be against the Bears and support the Packers because he thinks he's a "realist."

We're still talking about this? We get it, this was the Bears superbowl... now can the BEARS get good at football please?

I'd love for this scenario to be swapped. I'd much rather watch my team choke away the NFC championship game and be 2 minutes from the superbowl instead of 5-11 and laughing at the team that did. Just saying.

Call me old fashioned... but insulting your audience is usually a bad business model.

Dan Bernstein ‏@dan_bernstein · 34m34 minutes ago
Hey idiot #Bears fans -- you're in no position to revel publicly in a #Packers choke. Stop it.

I think Bears fans all get it.... The Packers are WAY better than us. Bears suck. But I fail to see why we're "idiots" for enjoying our hated rivalry's melt down on national TV?

Are enjoying it, and reveling in it publicly, the same thing? You are precisely who Bernstein was targeting with this comment.

Several years ago, don't know when, I first listened to B&B. At first, I thought they were funny, comical in a sense. Then, after a few shows, I realized they weren't an act. I realized they were hacks. I didn't understand, I couldn't grasp, how do negative and mediocre personalities keep jobs in a big market. They are mediocre, negative and play to a low brow market. The only upside is once in a while one of the blow hards make a salient point. I turn off The Score when they come on unless there is a press conference. And, even then, they interupt like 12 year olds comentating in their parent's basement. Just horrible.

Hmm....

When you question players put on the field, or back-office moves, or criticize on-field play, but still want the team to win no matter what- you are both a realist and a fan.

For instance, is there any "true bears fan"right now that isn't questioning Shea being a 3 years starter?

When you are calling all Bears fans idiots for being happy the Packers choked, you are a fucking dumb ass.

Exactly.

They are the sports version of shock jocks.

People getting upset by what they have to say are basically playing into their schtick.

They admittedly don't really know football. Terry Boers is more a Basketball guy. Dan Berstein is all about baseball. And neither are experts at either. In fact, they are more hacks at best.

When they do have salient points, it is because they are quoting an actual expert. But normally, the are quoting an expert's stat or point to validate a shock to make a shitty or shocking stance. And to be honest, the stats they pick is usually cherry picked.

What is upsetting to me is that 5-6 years ago, Hub Arkush had validity. He was an actual insider who had good sources and cared about X's and O's.

Since teaming up with these two douche bags, he has decided to take the TMZ route.

Without legit teams in Chicago (sans the Hawks) this is the type of sports media that will keep rating sup.

Sad.

It's fine to question things and be negative when it's time to. I'm not happy with the Bears either, but people like Bernstein are afraid that they'll be labeled a "homer" if they say anything supporting the Bears. That's why he made that comment about Bears fans even though he's in Chicago. He's playing the realist card "the Bears sucked this season so don't say anything about the Packers."

The Packers losing does nothing to improve Chicago's chances of winning a Super Bowl. They still have the best player in the game.

Someone not named the Bears is going to win the Super Bowl and the Bears are about as far away as they ever have been from winning one.

You cant be a fan and be a realist IMO

Fan is short for fanatic..Has anyone ever seen a realistic fanatic about any subject?

The two words fanatic and realist contradict each other..

IMO Bernstein is NO fan of the Bears. He just wants to look intelligent, and comes off as a smart ass instead

I've talked to someone who knows Dan on a personal level due to knowing someone in his family.. Yeah, he can be a "You don't know who I AM?! kinda guy in public.. Or out for dinner."

But I live a town over from Terry and he's actually a great guy. It's a act on radio, man. Dan may be a city snob pretentious prick, but Terry is actually super nice and really cool.

I still stand by my sentiment that some of the Boers&Bernstein the past few months of the Bears debacle season have been so damn epic..

They were on fire during some of the segments after another embarassing loss. Just fucking hilarious!
