His new album released Friday... Black Star.
I think that's his 28th album.

RIP

He wrote and released the album knowing he was going to die; kinda like warren zevon.


Ugh.. All my old favs are passing away. Just grateful Bruce and the Stones are still Kickin, so sad about David Bowie.

Fucking love this tune. Not a whole lot of rock/pop artists have ever been willing to take the step of including atonal jazz/classical ("high art") elements into their stuff. Just listen to the piano solo (that's Mike Garson btw, check him out if you don't know his stuff), it's got a section of pure serialism in the mold of Arnold Schoenberg...that just doesn't show up in pop music, well, every really.

I can't really reference any of Bowie's deep tracks but this collaboration is still one the best things that's ever happened to music:

This A-Capella version of Under Pressure is pretty cool. It really shows off how great their voices are, especially Freddie Mercury's.
