Jamie Newman

Why not double down?

Maybe he hits, maybe he doesn't, maybe he become the perfect cheap backup to fields in a year or two........at 200+ish in the draft; why not do the opposite this org has ever done and draft 2 qbs in the same draft.
And maybe we could pull a Jimmy G and get some nice picks in a couple of years if Fields pans out as he should.

Some surprise cut will happen and I think the UDFA group will yield some quality. I think that there are a bunch of solid players that weren't able to shine because of Covid.

CB Zech McPhearson is a guy that Dane Brugler is really high on. He mocked him to the Bears at pick #83. He could be a steal in the 5th round...

The way this draft is going, Bears will recruit Newman as a UDFA after trading Foles for a 6th next year/conditional 5th.

Unfortunately this is the situation. Vindle, Burns and the CFL star will compete for the second spot. I would bet one of them will come through and be good enough but if Johnson has shoulder issues again that will be a big problem. If Travathon is slower than we might have some real coverage issues, even playing zone heavy schemes.
Tre Robinson is the CFL star CB IIRC. He's yet to be healthy but Bears seemed high on him. His tape and stats were very good too.

I wouldn't hate a flier on an ILB as special teams hitter and backup to Travathan. Restock the shelves.

There's some decent value on the board. People saying they need to draft specific positions at this point in the draft don't know how the draft works though. At this point you are taking best talent available hoping they can contribute.

Can't put him on the roster or protect him on 53 cuts unless we lose a QB before Sept.

So I’ve seen reference to underclassmen talent not entering the draft this year due to pandemic related circumstances. It was the lowest number of early entrants in quite some time. There’s a thought that next year could be one of the deepest drafts in history. I’ve heard reference to the potential to sign UDFA that normally would be 5th/6th rd picks.

After thinking about this, I wouldn’t be opposed to trading down to gain a pick or 2 for next years draft. Unless there’s a talent staring at you (thinking CB or WR), I think trying to gain a couple picks for next years draft makes sense. If you can get picks for Foles and Miller, I’d almost prefer next year, not this draft.

Team medical can make up a redshirt injury pretty easily. You can protect a PS player. Plus isn’t the 53 expanding this year?..

You can do anything but if you're protecting a 4th QB, you have other bigger issues.

I'd be good if they trade Foles tonight. I suppose they could waive him in Sept and see if he gets claimed along with the contract.

WR
Tylan Wallace - polished WR prospect, more mature version of Anthony Miller who's a step faster, probably not around at 151
Amon-Ra St Brown - reminds me of Juju (same college), can play any WR position
Ihmir Smith-Marsette- not super productive at Iowa (no one ever is), fast, athletic, lots of upside
Jaelon Darden - small, skinny dude (5'7, 170), didn't time super fast, but can fly and make guys miss albeit at small school level
Shi Smith - small slot WR who can run and get open, suffered from poor QB play, not very strong
Marquez Stevenson - similar to Darden, but taller, more straight line fast than shifty
Josh Imatorbhebhe- 6'2, 210 freak athlete with like a 46" high jump, very raw as a WR
Tamorrion Terry- 6'4" deep threat WR, who disappointed at the mess of a program at FSU
Trevon Grimes- also 6'4, timed much faster than I expected, not a great route runner, but jump ball deep threat
Dazz Newsome - slot WR and return specialist, decent at everything, no standout traits

CB
Thomas Graham Jr - big fan, outside CB who is not a great athlete, but did well at Senior Bowl, opted out 2020
Kary Vincent Jr- speedy nickel CB, who may be able to start outside at 5'10.
Shaun Wade- former 1st round prospect, who struggled outside in 2020 after being a stud in the slot, could move to safety
Robert Rochell- small school CB, with a lot of ball production (10 INT, 25 PBU), technique needs work, high upside IMO
Olaijah Griffin - honestly didn't watch him much, but moved up draft boards late; his dad is rapper, Warren G
Zech McPherson - same as Griffin except his dad didn't make the #1 song of 1994
Avery Williams - slot CB size, with great ST value on coverage teams and as a return man
Rodarius Williams - good size CB with 31 career PBUs, OLDER brother of Browns Greedy Williams

Others
Daviyon Nixon, DL - knew I was higher on him (top 20) than most, but day 3 is ridiculous value
Trey Smith, OG - also higher on him than most, he's really good but had a heart issue a couple years back which is why he's on the board
Bobby Brown III, DL - 20-year old with nice athletic profile and upside
Brevin Jordan, TE - not as athletic as I thought, but good after catch, if they wanted to cut Graham he could step right in
Stone Forsythe, OT - 6'8" good athlete, very raw but lot of upside
D'Ante Smith, OT - small school athletic OT who did well at senior bowl, needs to add weight for NFL
