Dead Island App Helps Navigate Console Game
In a cool variation on the traditional iOS app, Dead Island will be launching a map application that helps players get around the sprawling Banoi Island.
BradyGames is working together with the developers at Deep Silver to release a map application that will run on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. The application will cost $2.99 when it releases next week on September 6th – the same day as Dead Island comes to console and PC.
The Dead Island app has complete maps of every area in the game, and you'll be able to scroll and zoom through any area you see. The app also includes location markers for all the collectibles in the game. Finally, you can track items you've picked up and the items you have yet to find using a system built into the app.
It's a smart idea, and one that we expect we'll see a lot of in the next couple of years. Wii U gamers will likely have some of that same functionality built into the games they play, thanks to the nature of the in-controller screen. It wouldn't be surprising to see non-Nintendo games pursue more approaches like what we see here with Dead Island in order to keep pace and provide the most robust feedback to players.
