Sure, but who? And what are the Bears willing to give up? The younger the player the more draft capital it'll take.

Someone floated out there swapping picks with a team in the first and asking for their WR1 in return of draft picks. Would be an interesting scenario. DJ Moore could be a target as that team is tearing down.
He’s exactly the guy I was thinking about too. You’re right, there aren’t a lot of guys that fit the scenario.

Maybe Jeudy or Sutton…

Jeudy needs to be paid next offseason, which would make three WR who need to be paid in the same offseason, all at $12m+, and none of whom are close to a true #1. Just don't see that.

I love DJ Moore but don't see Carolina letting him go.

It’s really not a horrible idea. Yeah he’s old but he still has a few productive years left (barring another PED incident). Would be a bridge gap allowing Poles to build the lines this year and then draft a WR1 the following year hopefully.

Look at what other teams have done for their QBs - Diggs for Allen, Hill for Tua, Brown for Hurts

All in their 20’s.

Quite a few teams that may be looking to move up that have interesting WRs that could help the Bears - Indy (Pittman), Carolina (Moore), NO (Olave, Smith), Seattle (DK), TB (Godwin/Evans), Washington (Mclarin). This is all pie in the sky type stuff, but I think Moore/Mclarin would be intriguing if Poles could pry them away in a trade situation.

I understand that, Baba. Please stay calm. Did you notice how I mentioned it would be a bridge type solution until the Bears are able to draft a WR1? I'm just not sold there is a dominant WR in this draft that the Bears would be in a position to draft especially given the issues on the OL/DL.

I don't believe the OL/DL/WR can all be addressed this season. Poles is going to have to be creative or settle for something.

Don’t see it happening.

If Poles going to drop multiple draft picks in a matter of months in trades for a 30 going on 31 year old WR who peaked in Houston and every DB runs their mouth that he takes PEDs—he’s going to put himself in hot water really quick in his tenure.

We also wanted pace fired for giving away draft picks like candy on Halloween, but poles can do it and all is fine? Then stretch himself thin with Claypool and Mooney needing extensions by paying Nuk 30 mil next year then 26 mil in 24 on top of other guys we assume he’s going to buy this off-season?

Doubt it. The bears aren’t a 31 year old Hopkins away from anything. They’ve too many needs to give away draft capital for him.

Calling my shot.

Friction with Kyler Murray who likely will not be healthy to begin next year.

$30 mil cap hit next year.

Cardinals traded a 1st for a younger Marquise Brown and paid him.

1) Hopkins 2) Claypool 3) Mooney ? ?

Or (lol) Poles ? will find a way to reunite Fields with Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

2023 the Bears take the North and never give it back. Ya heard me.
They were talking about this on the radio yesterday. Crazy you both had the exact same idea the same day!

Didn’t hear it, but read about a Deshaun Watson/Hopkins reunion in Cleveland. But the Browns don’t have the salary cap or picks to make it realistic. The Bears do.

All other top 10-15 WR in the NFL are locked up. The free agent market for WR is the worst I’ve ever seen. Trying to come up with solutions as going into 2023 with Claypool and Mooney would be disappointing for me.

You’d think DJ Moore would be available if there’s a QB the Panthers covet in a trade up.

I don’t follow college football very closely. Is there not a single potential #1 WR entering the draft next year?

There is. But the media said it’s a “down year” so people are overreacting

Hopkins probably has a good season or 2 in him, but he's been injured a lot lately. Still a good player, but he's like Allen Robinson, struggling to get separation. Personally, if they find a way to get JSN I'd be ecstatic, and Fields probably would be as well.
Nah I don’t think he’s like that.

He’s an uncoverable monster still I’ve seen it recently. Just too big too fast great hands great routes.

I have him in fantasy and he never has a bad game even with backups like Terrell Owens back in the day. Kyle Orton type comes in and isn’t really good enough to throw to the non-hall of famers and throws him 20 balls.

I liked the fantasy vision until the voices of reason below OP.

Claypool already targeted, and acquired.

I’m not as down on the end result of this group if everyone were healthy toward end of season.

Harry and Pringle and Mooney and Claypool is a start.

You wouldn't think that if you looked at his contract.

Or if you thought they might want a good WR for that rookie to throw to.

I wonder what it will require to get a guy like Waddle?

Tua and Hill will be need paid salaries and I could see Waddle shipped out.

Sign JuJu

Draft a WR or two. Doesn’t have to be round 1. Good WR’s can be found throughout the draft.

Don’t like JuJu? Costs too much?

Sign Meyers, Slayton, Lazard, Brown, or Campbell. (All 27 or under. All currently have more yards than any Bears WR)

Whatever you do…. DON’T spend high draft picks on players that are on the wrong side of 30. This Hopkins shit is dumb as fuk in my humble opinion. It would be paying for past production and not future production. I mean if they take a 5th… sure. But obviously it’ll take more and he would probably head to a contender.

IF someone young like a Higgins becomes available then for the right price consider it. I don’t think this will actually happen but sure… consider it if it does.

Also draft a move TE.

Anyways, the draft is still the best way to find WR talent. Take a few swings there.

Use free agency to build the lines.
