With Kyler Murray likely to miss most of next season, do the Cardinals move on from Hopkins?

What would it cost?

I thought about this last night. They clearly need a rebuild and to gut the coaching staff. They are just not a good football team; the 2021 Cards are now the 2022 Vikings

I love Hopkins but he'll be 31 entering next season. He routinely made absurd catches every week I watched him play with the Texans. Unfortunately, I don't think he fits the Bears timeline given all the other needs this team has and how far away the team is from true contention. If he were younger than 28 entering next season, maybe I'd take the gamble. Unless the Cards were giving him away for a late round pick, I'd pass. This team needs a #1 WR closer in age to Fields than someone closer to the end of their career imo.

If were going to pay what it costs to get him here and to pay his salary, I would rather pay someone much younger and who will still be a key part of this team when we're hopefully a legit good playoff team.

Michael Thomas is another option. Hasn't played much the last couple years. I assume NO will cut him. Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, Keenan Allen, and Brandon Cooks are all potential options to look at on the trade market for the right price.

Hasn’t been good since 2019. Should retire.

That part. He's still pretty good. But like you said, 31, was just suspended for PEDs this year for 6 games (so potential to miss time if screws up again), and he has a 30Mil cap hit next year. Granted, a team trading for him would only take on 8.15M of that, but I doubt the Cards want to eat 22.6Mil. I'm guessing he'd want an extension too as his contract is up after 2024 and he'd be a bargain at 8.15 for the new team paying him. At his age, he will want security, which....yuck.

This will be his second sub-1000 yard season. He has a 56 million dollar cap hit over the next 2 years.

The only way this guy will be of any interest to any team is if he gets cuts this offseason.
