Oh Mark you beat me to it. I just read this article 30mins ago and was going to post the link. This is my favorite quote, from the ultimate meathead Kendrick Perkins.

"We first have to stop Kirk Hinrich," Celtics center Kendrick Perkins said. "He just can't keep coming in and hurting us and giving them a spark. We shut Kirk Hinrich down and we can close out the series."

I mean don't get me wrong Kirk has played well off the bench this series, but key to winning the series is stopping a guy who plays 24mins? And I thought Tyrus was dumb.

"Once he gets tight, it's hard to get him loose again, and he kept saying he was fine so I was fine with him being out there because he's such a threat," Del Negro said. "He didn't shoot well, but he draws so much attention."

I hope Del Negro does the same with Gordon for the remainder of the series. The moments he is off the court are always excruciating. Why did it take so long to get a coach who truly understand Gordon's worth? Skiles always undervalued Gordon, and that idiot Boylan played him 22 minutes per a game in the last month of hte season.

I just hope that Kendrick sticks to that game plan tomorrow. I can just picture Kendrick in the huddle, going all Kyle Reese on his teamates "GOD DAMN! That Kirk Hinrich! He doesnt feel pain. He doesnt feel pitty or remorse...AND HE WILL NOT STOP..EVER...until he dribbles in a circle 15 times!" Then he sees KG drooling on his crazy ass in the cornor and hits him in the head "YOU DONT GET IT DO YOU! THATS WHAT HE DOES! THATS ALL HE DOES! YOU CANT STOP HIM!He will waste through you, reach down your throat and rip your fucking heart out!!" . (if you don't know who Kyle Resse is, you should be shot).

- Nice little day dream

The game clock has been targeted for termination by the Kirkanator.

Joke all your like, but the one area we're dominating the Celtics on is bench production. I think that's the context of why they want to stop Kirk, they realise if our bench gives us the crap their bench is giving them, then the edge they have over our starters means they'll win for sure.

Basically they're saying they don't need to change what they're doing on Gordon/Rose/Snipes, because they're confident Rondo/Peirce/Allen can match them. They know the way House or Marbury are playing they're not going to match Hinrich.

Bale. He's Welsh. They drink and fight alot. Just like us Irish. And he was arrested on assault charges or something against his own mum and sister. He doesn't F around.

Garnett is just a shit talker. He never gets into fights. And if he does, he punks out everytime. My favorite is when 6-4 Anthony Peeler, a former teammate on the Kings at the time, popped him straight in his dumbass face, he just backed up like a total puss.

I agree with what you're saying there.

But it's who's saying it. Perkins is a moron. He's having a good series but you aint KG. And he has been running his mouth KG-style this entire series. I'd like someone to hit him in the face more than Rondo, that's for sure.

I'm sure the opposing fans feel the same way about Noah. The way I figure it if you're making the opponents fans hate you you're probably doing something right. So I respect the job Perkins is doing.

Agreed, Perkins is doing well. He has long been a player I thought the Bulls should target.

The one exception to this rule, for obvious reasons, is Kevin Garnett.

I don't know, perhaps we should target KG with a deer rifle? ;)

Maybe Sarah Palin can shoot him with a t-shirt gun from a helicopter.

Minor note.

The Celtics focus on Kirk Hinrich because they have no bench and as a result, he produces the biggest threat to their depth-chart (or lack thereof). Ben Gordon and Derrick Rose are still their primary concern. Anything else would be Special person when you're playing in a game 6.

That said, they're right. Kirk does present a huge problem. He's a combo guard with a good touch who can play good defense. He is a starting point guard in the NBA, just not with us, and thus rapes the opposing bench. They should be worried. Hell, an efficient Brad Miller is also something they should worry about. So far Brad has played horribly in the series, though I won't blame the free throw in game 5 on him. He was spitting blood and couldn't even focus half an hour after the game.

Fact is our depth chart is way more talented than Boston. But it's unpolished, which is why the Celtics have gotten the better of us in 5 games so far.

Goodness it's like you think Hinrich is trying to oppress Ben and keep him down (not that I think you think that). Personally I find that kind of thought funny. Ra ra fight tha powa! BEN GORDON FOREVER lol. In all seriousness, Kirk Hinrich is a threat off the bench because the Celtics' have NO ONE on the bench. If the Celtics really mean to focus on Kirk rather then Ben and Derrick then they deserve to lose by 30. No one (dare I say even Tyrus who is apparently as dumb as a brick) would be so stupid as to suggest that all the attention going to Ben and Derrick be shifted to Kirk.

Weird.

Imagine the black power symbol, changed to red with 'BG7' in the corner. Custom made for you. I too am a huge Gordon supporter, and want him locked up for the next 6 seasons here.

I think that's it exactly. Of all the matchups, Kirk is the one Chicago guy majorly outproducing his Boston counterpart. And, as we've all commented on ad nauseum all season, it's one thing to get beaten by the other team's elite starters and quite another thing to get lit up by the opponent's 4th or 5th option. It shouldn't be taken as an insult to other players on the Bulls or as Perkins claiming Kirk is the Bulls' best player. But in this series, especially at this point, Derrick has been shooting himself in the foot with the TOs and Ben and John are hobbled with injuries.

Another point in support of this is PER for the playoffs so far - which, with such a small sample size, is not reliably predictive of anyone's long-term ability but is reflective of the level they are playing at in the immediate short-term present. And for the Bulls (PER from basketballreference.com:

Player / Playoff PER / PER Differential(regular to postseason)

Joakim --- 17.8 ---------- +1.3
Kirk ----- 17.0 ---------- +3.1
Ben ------ 16.9 ---------- -0.1
Tyrus ---- 14.6 ---------- -1.3
Derrick -- 14.1 ---------- -1.9
John ----- 11.6 ---------- -4.4
Brad ----- 7.8 --------- -10.8

On top of that, most people have acknowledged that Kirk is playing very good defense in the playoffs. So in the context of this series, I'd say there's a very good argument that Perkins is exactly right - while Derrick and Ben have both had very good games, overall Kirk and Joakim are the guys who have really stepped up their regular season production for the playoffs.

I saw those notes earlier today. I don't know if stopping Hinrich is the key like Perkins says. I mean, the Bulls can win without him playing well, and they have. Kirk was 1-4 from the field with 3 points, 0 assists and 2 turnovers in Game 1, and the Bulls still won. That's just Perkins talking out of his ass. He's already talked smack about Rose, so he's not going to give Rose any props by saying "We gotta stop Derrick."

But with that said, Kirk has had a solid series.
