It is what it is...
Look. Cutler did about as good as he could. Give him props. I root for him to be the best in the NFL every time he steps on the field in a Bears uniform. We won. That is what matters.
And Gase has done about as well as he could with Cutler.
When you have a QB who can't throw accurately beyond 7 yards, you do what you can. I know WR screens piss some of you off. But it is what it is... Goal is to get the ball out of (the human turnover machine) Cutlers hands and into the hands of someone who can make a play as quickly as possible.
That game plan has led the team to a crap record. But it has also led Gase to consideration for HC jobs. As long as Cutler sticks to the plan and keeps throwing the bubble and the 3 yard dump off, people will think he worked miracles with Cutler.
Turned the "gunslinger" into a "game manager".
Congrats. It is what it is. We traded a game manager, 2 first round picks, and another pick for... a game manager.
As far as today, luckily, our DC is one of the best in the NFL and put in a great game plan. That and Martin choking up the ball a lot helped.
A phantom facemask and a solid defense bailed out Cutlers inability to throw a ball more than 3 yards and got us a win. It is what it is. I'll take it.
