I didn't ready too much into this press conference...don't know what to expect from Rose. There have been statements that he has made in the past that were both accurate and unfortunate. His statements about not going hard so he can attend his son's graduation was the straw that broke the camel's back in my opinion.

Obviously you'd all rather have the nondescript MJ answers.

Nondescript? Do you mean 1989 when the Bulls lost every regular season game against the Cavaliers and he promised they would beat them in the playoffs--and then delivered? Or do you mean his nondescript answer in 1986 when management wanted to shut him down and he insisted on playing? And that team had less of a chance than the teams Rose has been playing on.

Yeah. I'll have some of that. I'm putting my had up twice.

All I had to see was the thread title and I knew which poster was behind this garbage.

2323 is more concerned about the TMZ side of sport rather than what's actually happening on the court.

Except, I didn't start the thread.

What'd kind of bring this all to a head is when the team doctor gives Rose an examination and pronounces him fit to play. That would kind of cinch things for me and I'd bet a helluva lot of Bulls fans. Then Thibs ought to pencil him into the line-up and then see what happens. IF he balks at that, then what happens? Does Pax over-rule Thibs in which case, Thibs could just simply walk away with his head high and all of the dirt would be on Rose and Paxson. Looking back at things, it probably should have happened awhile ago.

I could understand Rose's caution when he was 23, but now he is going to be 27 in October. He can't afford to sit out more than he has to if he wants to try to secure another contract that won't be all incentive based.

When are people going to get over that? Seriously! Doctors also gave Robert Griffen III the go to play and how'd that work out? Rose sat out those playoffs, the whole off season, and still looked rusty as hell before he injured the other knee.

WTF makes you think he would have come back in the playoffs and done anything to help the team? It's just fuckin ridiculous to keep bringing up the same point over and over again. Nothing, absolutely nothing out there, suggests that he would have helped the Bulls in that playoff run!

Exactly. That's the other thing, he was only 23. Why would he risk the rest of his career at such a young age? To make selfish Bulls fans happy? Yeah right. :smh:

He was not risking anything...he was medically cleared to play.

That's a copout opinion, imo. How about Griffen III, like I said, he was cleared too, and by a good Doctor. You saw how Rose played the next season, right? You think he was ready?

I think it's really immature for people like you to tell Rose how he's supposed to feel after that injury, his 1st at a young age. I can see being disappointed, but I can't see going on and on like you do. It just seems really selfish of you, imo, as a fan.

I can't believe some fans are still going on about this Doctor's statement, which very well could have been pushed by the Bulls management, or even the media. It's not like anyone has never gotten a 2nd opinion when it comes to Doctors, right?

well according to the usual timetable for ACL recovery Derrick should have been good to go by the time he was cleared...then he said silly things like "only god knows" when they asked when he'd be ready

and he certainly hasn't tried prove naysayers wrong by admitting hes thinking about going to his sons graduation in 17 years instead of playing

something interesting though....PG seems to be considering skipping out on this year....i'll be interested to see if he receives the same pressure Rose received

(btw for the record i think Rose will return this season)

Maybe I am selfish, but I am not going to voluntarily be stupid. Some fans seem to mindlessly genuflect to whatever Rose says or does. No thank you. Being a fan doesn't mean I get to criticize other players across the league and exempt players on my favorite team from criticism. Had Lebron or Durant done the same, they'd be called quitters. Matter of fact, Deng was criticized by fans for sitting out the 2009 playoffs, after he got a second opinion...and he was right!!!

The team actually tried to protect him. Why do you think they closed off practices and told Stacey King and players to stop commenting on Rose's play while rehabbing?

Well, everyone says Rose isn't a great public speaker, so why mince words? I was waiting to use the George situation when I see how it develops. PG said recently he didn't want to come back cuz he thought it would hurt the teams chemistry. He's medically cleared to play, right?

No.

But he was slated to come back maybe this week.

For starters, I was talking about going forward not backward. Secondly, what he said and did after that injury pretty well hurt him reputation wise. Thirdly, Griffin III is a football player. BIG DAMN DIFFERENCE.

But I am talking about NOW.....GOING FORWARD. ANd I think that a team doctor is there fro a dman purpose and when he clears a player to be ready to play, then the player should have really not a lot of sayso other than getting a second opinion. But he is getting PAID millions of damn dollars to play for a team that NEEDS HIM. Now you can say whatever you will those play-offs and how you apparently know that he couldn't have helped the Bulls. I say that if he had played, they would have been better than any other fucking player that they had on that court and he didn't play. You don't know crap about what he could have done so stop the bullshit. YOu blame Thibs for everything. I say that Rose need to quit being a fucking prima donna and IF HE IS CLEARED HE NEEDS TO PLAY. PERIOD!

Derrick Rose is not entitled to anything more than a good sound physical examination than any other damn athlete. ANd he is not entitled to decide to sit if cleared. I would put the guy in the line-up. He can decide not to play if he wants to but that would be absolutely on him. Doctors clear. Coaches make out the line-up. ANd players play. PERIOD!

Now you may think that you know everything that there is to know about the inner mindset of Derrick Rose, but you know no more shit than anyone does. I say, he plays if cleared and that Thibs need to play his cards because clearly he is not getting any fucking support from Paxson and Gar. He is being painted into a fucking corner if you ask me.

That is true and if those knees bother him so much, then he should probably just retire. He's set for life as it is. So what does he want? This is what someone needs to get through to him. I don't know what his potential is? Anyone else know? Does he? All that I know is that I believe a human being needs to go balls out to be the best that he can be in whatever he or she does. And I also believe that those who strive get ahead.

So it is this more than anything else. What does Rose want his legacy to be. This is what someone should be asking him. There is no disgrace in retiring if your body is beaten down but there is disgrace if you just take money and lay down for it.

I knew it was anytime now, but thanks for correcting me I guess, and for taking the time to research it, which I didn't deem worth my time atm.

LOL, wipe the snot off your nose ..... what's the difference? RGIII brought quickness and running ability to the QB position. I don't see a huge difference. Both were cleared for the playoffs. As it turned out, it was a bad decision for RGIII to come back. :dunno:

The rest of your post isn't worth responding to, as usual for you. :smh:

RG3's situation is different...his knee was messed up but they risked it and he tore his ACL

Derrick tore his and had 6 months of rehab by the time he was cleared

But he was slated to come back maybe this week.

One of his teammates leaked to the press that George isn't nearly 100%. Rose's teammates told the press that he looked great, with no leaks to the contrary. Only after being pressured to come back did Rose come up with lame excuses as to why he couldn't come back saying he couldn't jump off of his injured knee, etc. The team told his teammates and Stacey King to stop talking about how good Rose looked in practice.
