Did my good deed for the day

I was at Sports Authority at lunch today and the bandwagon was out in full force. All of the sudden, the Hawks merchandise is no longer relegated to a couple t shirts way in the back of the store. They now occupy 5 different racks right in front as soon as you walk in the door. There were about 10 people in there buying hats, shirts, etc.



I was in line (not buying hawks stuff, getting tennis balls for my dog) and the woman behind me had about 5 Hawks things including a Western Conf Champ hat. I told her she should put that hat back and get somethign else. She asked if it was bad to buy stuff that said West conf champ and I said yes, you'll look really stupid and its bad luck. She said ok and went and put the hat away and pickeed out a normal Hawks hat instead.



There, my work is done here for the day.

I've had season tickets for 15 years, paid more than my dues and have two of those hats and a fucking Tshirt.



Though I will not wear it during the game, I have my lucky hat, I've waited a long time for this you bet your fucking cheap ass I bought a hat and SHIRT!



She won't look stupid.

I actually meant used ticket stub, in other words post game, as there is #1 no way in hell I can get up to Chicago before game one, and #2 no way in hell anyone would GIVE me a free ticket for the game.

I agree and did the same for basically the same reasons. Just very happy they have made the finals and will be completely giddy when they win the cup...and when they do I will not be ashamed or stupid for the WCC stuff.

Actually i never heard about the bad luck thing, but to me its a lose-lose situation. These souvenirs are just to make money from the hype of the moment, which is winning the conference. If the Hawks win the Cup, I mean, really, who cares about winning the conference? And if they don't win the Cup, the disappointment would be huge and i personally wouldn't give a rats ass about winning the conference. And I wouldn't' even think about going out and buying a "Western Conference Champions" t-shirt. I think the old New York Jets' coach would say you play the game to win the Cup. Nothing else matters.



And if you buy a Western Conference Champions t-shirt, aren't you going to want a Stanley Cup champions t shirt next week? Then guess which one your going to wear this summer? So i say good job Sonny, better than helping a little old lady across the street.
