St Augustine is a cool place. In addition to that, lots of stuff to do / see here that most tourists never see. Been wanting to put together a blog for awhile with a "experience FL like a local" angle aimed at incoming tourists strictly as a hobby thing... but one of those things I've never gotten around to (and probably never will).

Yep, it's called Islands of Adventure. The best in terms of rides in the immediate area IMO. As far as the attractions go, there are also some great water parks here if you come when it's warm (Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Aquatica etc).

I wish I could've taken you up on this last year b/c I took my family to Orlando for 10 days and we just mostly hit up the amusement parks. I was going crazy for a while there. One day we took a break and went to St. Augustine, and that was probably my favorite part of the trip. In hindsight, we should've planned more days like that.

To the OP: You should check out Universal Studios Island of Adventure (or is it Adventure Island)? I really enjoyed the rides there more than Disney, especially the Harry Potter and Incredible Hulk rides. And if you have the time, do other stuff as nvan mentioned.

Yea I thought about this. The only thing is it would only be a 4/5 day trip. And Disney's tickets are so damn expensive, it may or may not make sense to get a 1 or 2 day ticket for Universal. Can't believe how expensive the park tickets are.

I saved a few bucks by purchasing my tickets from here: https://www.undercovertourist.com/.
I had to buy for six people, so the savings added up. Also download their app so you can get wait times for the rides.

You should totally do that. I went away feeling like Orlando was one giant tourist trap, which was my fault for not seeking out other stuff. But even with the internet, it was hard to find things to do in Orlando that didn't involve theme parks. So I ended up in St. Augustine, which was worth it but a little out of the way. Would have loved to do something else in Orlando or nearby.

I can't stand dealing with people and their kids in Walmart for 20 minutes.

I'd probably wind up in a Florida jail if I spent days...

Ugh, this. I went to Disneyland 2 summers ago with my g/f, her parents, her sister, & her 10 year old daughter. I barely escaped with my sanity. I needed to do lots of breathing exercises...

I think I've seen videos on youtube about visiting Florida like a local, or something like that. It was mainly about fishing though from what I remember.

Fishing, drugs (lots of drugs), & losing your damned mind. And hurricanes in the summertime

Epcot has all those different countries. I thought I read that Disney brings in women from the actual country to represent the various areas within Epcot. They're suppose to be pretty hot aren't they? Like France and Norway.
