Do 'we' REALLY need to get Keenan Allen more involved?

Heard this topic ad nauseum on the radio from the lips of the perpetually moronic David Haugh. I haven't been impressed with Keenan Allen at all this year...he reminds me of Allen Robinson in his last Bear season. Haugh's argument is "he makes so much money" and "he's a veteran" and other nonsense.

If the Bears are scoring 30+ppg, then I don't really care who is involved and who isn't involved. I'm fine with Allen's hypothetical touches going to Kmet and Swift.

If anyone needs to get more involved, it's Rome. He's been wide open a couple times on deep shots and Caleb just hasn't seen him. That'll change with time, hopefully, especially with Murray in there keeping the pocket clean.

Of course you don't need him when playing the Panthers. You will see how much you need him against the Packers, Vikings and Lions.

In a twist of maybe what's the point of this... we probably do need him to get more targets before he becomes a distraction. We kind of know that will happen if he's not seeing the looks he wants in a contract year.

He hasn't made a peep about not seeing the ball and probably doesn't figure to. He's always seemed to be a team player. It's quite possible that he's just fallen off and is now just an ok player, not the "get open at will" type guy he was in the past, thanks in part perhaps to the heel injury.

I agree. Rome ain't SHIT without Bill Murray in the game

Hopefully, but I honestly think every player wants the targets and will make noise eventually. If we're killing it and leading the division, maybe not... if we're at some point facing a reality where there's no playoff football, I can't imagine he'll be ok with a 3rd or 4th option role... even if that's delusional of him with his current level of ability.

I am worried about that because, in his defense, he needs the ball for stats to get his last big contract. He knows this as does his agent. I really wouldn’t be against trading him if the right deal came along.

KA looks slow and overweight. Dump him before the trade deadline e for some late round draft capital. Same with VJ and Herbert

Teams have access to the All 22. I am not seeing a lot of tape of him being open and Caleb missing him. Rome has a bigger beef about that than Allen does.

So he needs to start getting open on tape and then he can complain ifnhe isnt getting the ball.

Well...when the 3 wr are healthy I don't expect him to see many (if any) snaps/tatgets.

However....when Allen was out for 2 games it was strange how they plopped Carter on the field and forced targets his way vs using Scott.
I think he’s done here. He must really suck for them to just leave him off the roster every week.

He's an asset, but he's also aging. He can teach and be an important player, but long-term it's DJM and Odunze. I'm happy to see Kmet getting more targets, especially over the middle. And they seem to have figured out how to use Swift better. IDK if Allen will be here next year.

Glad we agree on Haugh....stopped listening to him a few years ago and that was after I only heard him a minimum amount of times. Imo...he likes to stir the pot..

KA seems to be doing what he was brought in for......secondary receiver when DJ isn't open....getting medium yards to make it 2nd & short or getting a 1st. Seems he's a team player....I like what he's brought to the team. Not sure what everybody was expecting. Didn't know who he was before coming to Chi. but he doesn't seem to be a Home Run guy, but that's ok....DJ and Rome can do that. I think guys who can 'move the chains' are underrated by most fans. I find them an intracule part of the team concept.

I thought Allen was a possession type who would be here to help our rookies develop more than be here as an offensive weapon.
