My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Personally, I want to be buried unembalmed in a peat bog somewhere up north and covered with sediment quickly enough to fossilize my ass.

If that's not an option a viking funeral will work just fine.

If I go before the wife it will be a traditional casket, hopefully very simple. VA benifits are supposed to cover the cost of this. She feels like the family would like someplace to visit (or piss on my grave) after I leave. If she goes 1st I'll probably donate to science or be cremated.

You might want to check into the VA benifits , don't believe they cover the casket.

After checking this today, it probably won't cover much if anything if I'm not buried at a VA cemetary. For non-service related deaths it covers up $600 in expenses for burial and plot. Significantly more for service related deaths (should I die from a service related illness/injury), up to $5000 I believe.

And I believe you are correct regarding the coffin if burial is at a VA cemetary.

If I have to be buried in a cemetary, do to the wife or kids wishes, it will probably be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary. My dad's uncle is there now. I will use whatever VA benefits I earned, yo!

My choice however, is to be cremated and have my ashes spread in water somewhere. Maybe in Lake Michigan, or maybe the pond behind my house if we are still there or maybe in a small lake up north that freezes so I can play pond hockey in the afterlife.

Here we go... this should be fun.

I don't really care what they do with my body, but I'm too selfish to be an organ donor. I would donate to someone i know who needed it, but I don't want complete strangers who I have no idea if they deserve that extra life to get my organs. I don't like not being able to control that. I know the OPTN tries their best to get the organs to the most qualified and needed people, but it's been shown to be very failable system. I have some ocd control issues or something I guess, but I don't want to be an organ donor. I just don't. I would do it under the right circumstances, but if I die, and they drag me to the hospital I don't want the first thought of me to be.... let's chop him up and save some random people's lives ...

I have thought about this a lot lately..not sure why.

I don't want to be buried or cremated. I want my body to go to science. I think that is the most noble thing one can do. I think it is selfish to bury or cremate something that could be used for medical and scientific purposes. I understand the religious beliefs some hold when it comes to burials and I understand the cultural and traditional points. And I do respect those but in my world it does come off as a little selfish in these times and ages. For myself there are enough pictures and memories around to remind my loved ones about me they shouldn't need a plot of land or an ern to spawn a memory. Or maybe I just never understood that part of the mourning process others feel. The body rots and it is poison as it does so. I don't understand sitting at a grave sight over a rotting body and how that can emulate some sort of meditation or peace. And I don't understand having someones burnt remains around them either..I just flat out can't wrap my head around those things. Guess I am mental.

I have spoken to my loved ones about this and I would like my body to be donated to research on the muscle syndrome I have (if there are research labs available). I can not allow myself to not contribute something that may help other sufferers or those who may come down with said syndrome. If that isn't a reality I am more than happy to donate my body to research on anything relating to research of their choosing. Organ donation is also fine by me.

What those scientists do to my body parts after they have poked and played with them is up to them. They can throw parts of me around in dumps or burn them or whatever. They can eat me if their plane goes down..i just dont care.

Burn me and spread my ashes somewhere, fertilize the flower bed, bury the urn in the ground, do whatever as I won't be minding. Getting buried in a big casket seems like huge waste of space to me.

That would be cool. I wouldn't mind being cremated then compressed into a hockey puck. I could be dropped off at a local rink where I could spend eternity being in the game! Fun idea!!

Cremation. Not a fan of the wake and funeral deal. Just scatter the ashes in Lake Michigan and be done with it. I have seen you could have a charm made up to wear as a necklace with ashes...but I would not allow that.

As for the organ donation...if I can be of help...so be it. i have already signed my drivers license and left it in my will.

My sister brought up charm necklaces for my dad, but i'm not really a fan of that idea
