The Nationals are the better matchup. They've been wounded by some big injuries.

Nats, but I'd prefer to avoid all the grandstanding politicians that will use this for attention to seem like 'normal' humans in an election year. Either way, it's going to be good baseball.

Doesn't even matter. Either team is going to be run through like a train. I want to crush the Nationals. Would make this season so sweet!!

Man...I honestly didn't give a rip whether Cubs faced SF or Mets first. Look how that turned out. I thought the Mets would be the easier out last fall (SMH + facepalm). Hate to pick the next one now too. Either should be more reasonably hittable than SF's pitching which was better than ave (exception: Bumg vs. Arrieta).

If Cubs hitting returns to quasi-average against a reasonably hittable rotation again, nothing else will matter. Cubs rotation won't have much to worry about and can roll stress-free. Snowball effect. Cheers!

Nats. They won't pitch their ace until the 3rd game, which will be a good matchup with Arieta.

The rest of the pitching is vulnerable. Dodgers scare me. Not as much as the Giants but they do scare me.

Idk about the health of Strasburg but he hasn't pitched in the series yet. If he's back I'd rather face the dodgers.

You do realize it is possible to create a poll when starting a thread right? Go into full edit mode and scroll down below your post. This would be a much stronger thread with some data from all of us. Thanks.

I did, i did not do before because i want to know why you prefer one instead of the other, the poll is fine but say the reason, don't just vote

Nationals. I want a little Daniel Murphy payback, plus, I like earlier in the year when Maddon took Harper basically out of the equation and made the other guys have to beat us.

And if memory serves me right, the Cubs swept Washington in Wrigley, and played the Nats tough in Washington as I believe Jason Werth got a little cocky on a walk off win........so yes! Bring on the Nats.

BTW. I know it was in March, but does anyone even remember how the Cubs were way under .500 in pre-season with fans wondering what this team was going to be like, and then Scwharber goes down early to start the year?

All I know is that it will be nice to get his bat adding to the mix next year.

I chose Dodgers, and I'm not even really sure why to be honest.

I don't care. I believe it is quite possible the Cubs already faced their toughest matchup in the Giants.

He was unable to finish his bullpen session yesterday due to discomfort. No way he's back as a starter.

For me it is all about my sleep schedule, and the east coast Nationals would be much better for that!

Yeah, definitely would prefer having the first game of a night, but with the split schedule, there are only 2 games that might be double header games.

Both the dodgers and nationals have injuries, I still would not put it against Scherzer pitching in three games of the LCS.

There are pluses and minuses for both opponents, the Dodgers means late starts and staying up late to watch the whole game. I don't care really though, it's good to be waiting for an opponent.

Not to put the cart before the horse but having home field in the WS relying on the ASG winner is an absolute joke regardless if the Cubs get there.

Exactly. I want to drive Daniel Murphy, Werth, and Dusty Baker into fine dust and this team will do it in 5 games. I don't even care about Harper because he has been so bad this year that Im starting to think that the guy is all hype and last year's MVP was an aberration. I almost cannot believe this is the same guy the Cubs walked pretty much every time he hit in May because they were afraid of his bat. He's like the Nationals version of Jason Heyward. The guy tries to pull everything and keeps hitting weak assed ground balls to second base and weak assed popups.
