Idk about the health of Strasburg but he hasn't pitched in the series yet. If he's back I'd rather face the dodgers.

MLB network on XM Radio was talking about Strasburg today. He's done for the year. Whatever it was wrong with him was re strained the other day with a tear. Whatever it was he tore is a 6-8 week recovery at the least. At least that was what some former Dodger Doctor was saying on the radio.

We beat either team in 5. But few things in life will be as fun as pummeling Trusty Baker. Neither the Dodgers or the Nats can beat us in a 7-game series. We're too good defensively, have too good of a bullpen, and too deep of a bench. The only chance any NL team has against us is in a 5 game series. Nobody will beat us 4 times.

The Nats are pretty beaten up. I would love to face off against them. Good luck enjoying Chapman in the 9th.

He was playing catch again today and the Nats have "no current plans" to stop his throwing program. That said there's no way this guy is a threat as a starter in 2016.

As far as the two teams I would very slightly rather face the Nats but I think we'll beat either team. The Dodgers cannot hit left handed pitching so the lefties in our bullpen do pose advantage, that said their hitters are probably better than Washington.

Hmm, Kershaw or Scherzer? Harper or Seager? Nomo or Vasquez?

It's the LCS. Either way I'll be worried about someone or something.

I guess since Scherzer is going tomorrow and couldn't go again til game 3, I'll take the Nats.

I prefer the Dodgers but I'm guessing Nats and Scherzer easily beats the Dodger who will probably go with Hill on 3 days rest

Looking at possible pitching matchups

Vs Dodgers

Game 1,5 Lester vs Maeda
Game 2,6 Hendricks vs Kershaw
Game 3,7 Arrieta vs Hill

Cubs didn't face any of these starters during season....

Vs Nats

Game 1,5 Lester vs Roark
Game 2,6 Hendricks vs Gonzalez
Game 3,7 Arrieta vs Scherzer

Neither Dodgers or Nats have a decent 4th starter so
Lackey should be easily favored in Game 4..
So, being able to win 2 of first 3 in series could bold huge for Cubs being able to win NLCS..

I like the matchup with Dodgers, but I also like the idea of possibly only facing Scherzer once if they can end it within 6 games..

Look at the Nationals lineup

Turner
Werth
Murphy
Harper
Rendon
Zimmerman - .218/.272/.370
Espinosa - .209/.306/.378
Lobaton/Severino - 90 PA
Pitcher

That lineup + only two Scherzer starts + Dusty leads me to want the Nationals. Dodgers would potentially throw Kershaw at you three times (1,4,7). Small thing: the Nationals lineup is fairly balanced (Turner at the top is a switch hitter, Werth hits righty, then Harper/Murphy are lefties, then Rendon/Zimmerman are righties and Espinosa is a switch hitter who is a career .216 hitter versus righties).

Kershaw pitching yesterday on 3 days rest guarantees he doesn't start til Game 2 the earliest..
Plus
Kershaw looks gassed already after pitching twice and over 200 pitches total in 4 days
