If he is cleared, Friday morning Schwarber has to make the decision himself. Fowler.Bryant,Russell can cover A lot of ground.

Seriously though, he hasn't even been medically cleared to play in the field. I would not put him in the OF. But best believe the first key at-bat with a PH, The Babe is coming out there.

What an ace in the hole to have. You can tell even Kluber danced around him a bit. Kluber was dealin' as good as any pitcher and even he didn't really want to go at him.

Not saying you, but I noted (if cleared by the doctors).

He is bringing an element right now to the Cubs that I don't want to wait to use him solely as a PH'er, or DH if it goes back to Cleveland.

Yes! I think he and his bat mean that much right now

Just got an MLB alerts saying that Maddon is leaning towards starting Schwarber in LF if he's cleared by doctors.

Kyle Schwarber crushing batting practice on workout day. I have a feeling the Cubs will find a doctor to give good news.

I'm against him playing just not worth the risk. He has been such a gift no need to push our luck further. The team got here without him, now we can use him at the perfect time as a luxury. Just play our game we don't need to make a desperate move like this.

I am not a doctor. They, including the doctor, should do what is right and let him play if he is ready. I just hope there is no pressure to push him into a spot he should not be. If he is ready he is ready.

Apparently he just hung out in left and didn't catch anything. Trolling the media?

My concern is how rusty he'd be playing the field. He's not an outfielder by nature and he hasn't shagged flies in a long time. I get the same was true with hitting but he's been a hitter his whole life while he just learned to play the OF.

Very tough call here but I would err on the side of caution and just pinch hit him if needed. He'll end up playing LF and prove me and others wrong though.

I would presume that the docs didn't clear him to field then because Maddon said he would put him out there if he was cleared medically.

He didn't say a whole lot, he did say he has yet to even practice shagging fly balls, Drs don't want him playing the field. Batting and running the bases is ok, he will be available for PH at Wrigley and DH at Cleveland.

Fine with that. No need to risk losing him if it goes back to Cle.

My opinion is put out the best D. They have been sitting Heyward but they have Hendricks out there who puts the ball into play.

He can't be a DH while the Cubs are in Chicago.

this seems like an unneccesary correction. HHe said DH or PH, pretty sure that signals he knows the difference.

Glad the decision was taken out of the hands of the Cubs. I didn't really want him to play OF for multiple reasons but obviously it's super tempting if possible.

glad he's not playing the field. Even if he were cleared, I'd be a little mad about that.
