I think you are too doom and gloom with the team.

If they get equal production from Schierholtz and Castro bounces back. Rizzo last year did everything well except for his BA in his first full season. He was in the GG convo while hitting 23 HR's. Held a good BB rate. But it gets glossed over with his BA.

I've said this before. This team next year at this point could come together. When you look at it that way 2007 cost a ton to turn it around and they could not add payroll. If this year they get Castro and Rizzo hitting then add Baez and Bryant things change fast. At that point they should be looking into top of the rotation and table setters for the O.

I agree they need to do both. Develop and sign F/A. Not one or the other. Neither should take priority in aquiring talent.

Side note: I thought they should have signed Grandy last offseason and Liriano the season before. Let's see if I go 2 for 2 on the passed by opertunites.
