If he didnt cost so much, id do it, so no.

Who cares how much he costs? As long as there is no hard cap, we don't pay his salary and will never be under the cap anyway. Yes he is expensive but he is one of the few non star players that can greatly improve us. Are you trying to tell me if we swapped Korver and BG we don't beat the heat? A dynamic scoring option from the wing is what we need. Add to that Brewer covers all his weaknesses and a BG and Rose backcourt was one of the best in the league and we still had a top 5 rated defense. Add in Watson and Brewer and we have the top backcourt in the league to go with a top 5 front court. Its a no brainer. I'd do it without the pick or a future pick if we had too but a #8 pick makes it a steal.

Ben Gordon isn't really a dynamic scorer and I don't think he would be the cherry that breaks Miami's back.

Really? I don't think BG is nearly as bad defensively as Korver. Korver couldn't stay with anyone on the court. He is Jason Kapono. BG isn't a good defender but he is a significant upgrade and could at least do well against Bibby. He also has preformed much better in the playoffs then Korver over his career. I think an extra couple of buckets and that bit of penetration is the difference. Korver couldn't do anything against Miami.

We are in agreement that BG would be an improvement over Kyle Korver on both sides of the ball. Unfortunately, I just don't think that's saying very much. Sure, Gordon has more athleticism than Korver, but it's not like he is a good defender. He is very undersized defensively and Wade and Mike Miller would certainly be able to exploit that, head-to-head with their size and rebounding. And Gordon also does not have a good handle at all and doesn't do much to create for others, offensively. And he's certainly not going to jump out of the gym. It's a trade that I would almost definitely make but mostly because of that #8 pick.

LOL so Detroit trades #8 and a productive player for an over paided Kyle Korver and other scrubs lol. No way in hell Detroit would ever do this deal no way in hell. Detroit would be much better off buying BG out then doing a deal like that which gives them an almost as bad contract back in Korver.

This is why I don't like Doug, anyone of us has access to the NBA trade machine on ESPN's website. Anyone on here can do what he does. Not sure why he's held in such high regard.

In regards to Gordon playing defense, I think as long as he is willing, he'd play enough defense. Korver is willing, but is not athletic.

I am still laughing from this trade idea Detroit is getting royally fucked in this proposed idea. I dont think David Khan would even agree to such a deal

But Wade exploits everyone in the league. I also wouldn't have BG matched up against him. We would have had him on bibby like Korver was. So, I certainly think bg would do a better job on bibby and miller. I don't think Miller has the post game or miami has enough other shooters to really exploit BG. BG could stay infront of Miller much better than Korver did and I will take Miller shooting contested shots over BG despite the height difference.

Offensively, BG would have given us another penetrator and gotten to the line. His last year here, he lead the team in fta. He also would have given us a legit option that could at least create for himself. He isn't a ball handler or creator but he can put the ball in the basket better than anyone on our team not named rose. I'd do it without the pick but i think its a mute point since management won't spend the money.

I'd take Gordon if he was making maybe like 9 million a year. But as it is, he'd be pretty darn good in the Jamal Crawford/Jason Terry role. Just give him the green light with the second unit and watch him light it up most nights. He was a 20 ppg scorer with us, so I'd be inclined to think he could do it again. But unless Detroit really wants to dump him, I doubt they'd even think about that deal.
